The Must See Booths at NAB 2011 and Why

at the risk of soundling like an ad... (even though it is all free)

You guys are all welcome at the live recording of The RC podcast at NAB. Tuesday afternoon.

Jason and I along with film makers like Stu Maschwitz, Tyler Ginter and others are taking over the postpit booth, South Lower Hall Tuesday afternoon from 2pm.
(This is before by the annual massive - epic, fxphd pool party - for fxguide insider and fxphd members).

We'll have our EPIC there filming on Steadicam. Last year Ted was a guest and I think people enjoyed it ... This year should be fun as Stu , Jason and I will discuss "the Impossible shot", shooting with the EPIC, Shooting in NZ with EPIC on Gyros and lessons we learnt - we'll be showing footage and how we dealt with it.
Plus giving away stuff....

The Post Pit is booth number SL9126. Tuesday 2pm onwards.

will be there too...

For example, I hear that Sonosax is coming out with a new product to run circles around the 788t. So Sonosax is a must on my list.
Actually, the word is that the new low-cost Zaxcom Nomad recorder will be exhibited. Sonosax is traditionally not known for low-cost anything, but they are a very, very high-quality company.

I think daVinci will also have some interesting new announcements for their Resolve, and I'm expecting some surprising 4K announcements from other firms. And I expect the Apple booth will have a lot of traffic with the new FCP. Should be a busy show.

I thought Apple do not attend NAB any more. Can you confirm Apple have a stand this year?

NAB is just around the corner. Any additional ideas?

In case you missed the other post - the third annual NAB Map Is available for downloading. There is a low quality and high quality version of the map depending on whether you want to put it on your iPad, iPhone or print it out and bring it along. We will have copies on the show floor, but they always go fast so bring your own!

High Quality: nabmap.finnerknowsbest.com/FKB2011-HQ.pdf
Low Quality: nabmap.finnerknowsbest.com/FKB2011-low.pdf

The FKB team will also be on the show floor capturing the best of NAB, so if you see something you think we should know about - send us a note! Not going to make it to NAB this year? Follow us on twitter (twitter.com/colin_sheldon), and watch for videos!

I would suggest downloading the NAB Show 2011 iPhone app. It will run on an iPad as well, but is really designed for the phone. Floor maps are bookmark-able to facilitate a walking tour. Descriptions of all the exhibitors, full schedules for presentations and a lot of other useful features.

Abel Cine Tech ...

... because they have an amazing group of people working there ...

and Matt Livingston knows all of the great Vegas hang outs to find the hot showgirls. :ihih:

That map and it's details are very helpful. Thanks for posting.

Artbeats will be showing new 3D aerials and pyrotechnic footage shot with the RED MX at our booth *SU2408 (South Hall Upstairs). The 3D fire wall and firework footage is especially compelling with stereoscopic views I am confident haven't been captured before.

I would love to meet as many of you as I can and put some names to faces.

Thanks,
Phil

Has Red Stated the time yet for the unveiling of the surprise? First thing Monday morning I would assume?

I know I'll be doing my own coverage on EVERYTHING I see at NAB this year and posting it to my Facebook page. So far I'm looking forward to Adobe, Artbeats, RED (of course), Sony, SmallHD, Canon, Ikan, Zeiss, Autodesk, Sound Ideas, and Litepanels. There are definitely more but it'd take a while to list them all, I try to look at everything, and there might be new companies as well. Just gotta wait and see!

So many places to stop in, and we'll stop in to al of them while carrying our EPIC M8 of course... ;)

Mike, we'll stop in as we like your Pod casts, Justin definitely try to make it as this sounds super cool.

I suggest you guys stop by MAXX DIGITAL booth as well, and check out the new Storage media,
such as the ones we have been carrying around the Epic American Tour.

Ton of stuff to see this year, likely my last NAB, so see you all there, well we actually are already here.
