  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Not sure if someone else has talked about this before. If so, a link will be much appreciated.
Every time I am shooting wildlife I regret not to press the rec button at the right moment, especially on high speed mode. So, will be wonderful to have a trigger setting to start recording at the end of the action. Meaning that the Epic brain can “remember” everything that happened 15-30 seconds before we press the button and continue shooting until we press the button again.
I know some other cameras have a similar system and will be great to have that option on our Epics.

absolute must for wildlife use ! Glad to hear it's on the feature list, and the sooner enabled, definitely the better..
 
I'm late getting to this thread. I've been using pre-record for a long time now on Red One for wildlife production - and I really never had any doubt that pre-record would be a feature on Epic and Scarlet. Its in the menu system for Epic, but I don't believe it has been enabled yet. Ketch has Epic M8 out on the Epic American Tour so I don't have an Epic here to check if pre-record is enabled on the current build - but I'm thinking it isn't enabled yet.
 
I think also putting a greater emphasis on power management would be a huge thing for us. I know it's in the works so good to know, but would love to see this tacked before other things... maybe not the pre role as this is hugely important. I'd love to have the ability to adjust standby mode from either 1-4 minutes. This was killer in the 5D, batteries lasted for ever. I know scarlet requires a lot more horsepower so we can't achieve really long life, but an improvement will be appreciated.

Yes, pre-roll is an absolute must for wildlife. It would certainly help to encourage more sales for BBC and Discovery wildlife shoots. Please enable soon!
 
We patented the concept years ago when tape cameras were in use, Called it Hindsight. The Patent doesnt apply here but its a must have feature.
