  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Realistic Hope?

I agree. I don't have a lot of solutions...I won't rent a RED One or buy another cam because I have to save $$ for my RED Cam.

I don't know at all how I'll handle the several days of shooting planned this summer/fall.

For my ZERO-G flight, I'll try to find a REDcam operator in Europe that would be happy to shoot in 0 G. My old cam can't work in 0 G (it puts itself on security). That flight is planned next fall. :emote_headwall:

The only good thing is I can save money longer to get more cam addons or even to switch from a Scarlet to an Epic-S. I wished I'd have better news for my birthday today.

End of summer? Okay. I can hack it.
But I was *really* hoping for an early summer roll-out. My pessimistic side begs to differ and tells me that winter 2011 is the likeliest time for most of us on the "outside" to get in on the program - but the optimist in me tells me summer 2011 is looking mighty fine :)
 
I'm a freelance StediCam operator so I would like to second Arthur's thank you of "putting this level of equipment into the hands of people who lack mega-funding."

I can't wait to get my Scarlet 2/3 and fly it on my StediCam!

I'm new to the forums so I apologies if I've missed this somewhere. Because of my lack of mega-funding I'm going to have to build my system piece by piece verses all at once.

Would it be wise for me to say buy the RED Station REDMag 2.5" or RED Station Base and keep it on my shelf until I get the Scarlet 2/3 brain? Again apologies if this is written somewhere, I just really want to get my hands on some RED tech.

You'll prefer to get REDMag 1.8'' for the SSD and you don't really need a Station Base unless you offload a lot of RED medias at the same time.
 
Don't forget that renting is always a possibility. The low cost would seem to make rental very affordable for Scarlets, even along with some nice glass. But that, of course, doesn't account for the novelty of the camera and the expected (relative) supply deficit.

because that means that us that are stage 2 will already have our EPIC X's in our hands and will have been shooting for some time already, so that is why it is GREAT news....

I don't think it's that simple : Scarlets & Epics won't come from the same factory. And it's little bit harsh to hear that you're happy because Scarlet is delayed to end of september. We're all in the same boat...aren't you ?
You will never see me happy because Epics or any REDcam is delayed ... for my own advantage. You should grow up a bit.

I think he was just trying to say that based on the schedules as is commonly understood on the forum here (granted that no one really knows)- it was good news because the people who are already scheduled to get their camera’s first (EPIC Stage 2 people) have hope of that happening sooner rather than later in that statement about end of summer. Not "ha ha I’ll have a camera and you won’t". At least I didn’t read it that way.

And, what delay? There’s been no official release date ever set for Scarlet so how can it be delayed? Everyone’s trying to be patient because we can only have fair guesstimates of approximated times at this point, which right now sounds like end of summer, which in itself is already a different statement than end of September- they are not the same thing, even if they can be.
 
I undrerstood "end of summer" to be a brutally pessimistic estimate for a non RED owner... Not a final release date. I´m an optimist and hope it´ll be here sooner :thumbup:
 
I don't post much, but I've been addicted to checking Reduser for over a year now. And I'm sure there are many others out there like me and I bet there is going to be a mad rush for Scarlets and Epics once non-Red owners get a chance to purchase these gems!

I LOVE shooting on the Red One and I'm probably one of the biggest Red Evangelist (non-owners around!). I recently did some test shoots with the MX sensor and I can not believe how amazing it is. I would be perfectly happy with a camera of its caliber for the remainder of my life (subject to change :001_tt2:).

Anyways, if I had an established cliental and money to burn, I would love to own a Red One, but a Scarlet is very doable for me and I plan on getting one (even though I'd rather get an Epic-S, but I don't think its quite in my price range either). So, for me its going to come down to the Fixed Scarlet and the Cinema (which I would prefer because of the ability to change lenses).

The main reason I'm leaning towards getting the Fixed will be its unbeatable package price compared to building the Cinema from the ground up and the purchase of glass. I wish/ hope Red might offer a package deal with the Cinema Scarlet, because I would definitely go for that over the Fixed if it had a reasonable package deal. Then again, the Fixed looks like a technical marvel. To many damn possibilities, why cant Red be easy like the rest of them :tongue:

It's a pitty that I went for Arri.
If RED would really release in the middle of this year, it would be great for sure.
We have need for further cams :)

But it seems that the market is already rolling. There is this German development
of a brand new cinematic camera. Unfortunatelly, it is only in German language,
but Google may help a little:

I really don't think you understood me....I am happy because EPIC's should by then be shipping...that is all...why would I be happy that any camera is delayed???....furthermore, there is no where on REDUSER that says Scarlets are delayed....So, I think you should take care before you write about what others write...ok...we are all here because we use and love RED...and we should all be wanting the same thing.:rolleyes5:
 
I have grant money that needs to be spent by June 30th and have been holding out hope I can at least get two Scarlets or one Epic S, depending upon what comes out first. We already have the MX upgrade to our R1. Any realistic hope for either by June 30th?
