Ridley Scott's upcoming Science Fiction film, which begins principal photography this spring, will be shot on EPIC.

From Dariusz Wolski ASC:

"In my opinion, the new Red Epic camera is about to revolutionize all spectrums of the film industry.

I am going to use Epics in my new project directed by Ridley Scott. I am amazed with the quality of the image and the fact that you can shoot 5k at 120fps without compromising resolution, and most of all the size of the camera.

Combined with the Element Technica Atom 3d rig, we will be able to shoot a 3d movie with the flexibility of a conventional cinema camera.

I don't see anything that comes close to it at the moment. I can't even imagine the potential Epic will have on the big blockbuster industry as well as independent cinema."

Well then...

aaahh!!! Ridley is one of my biggest heros, I consciously make decisions to emulate him, so this is incredibly awesome. He is so visual. I look forward to also hearing what he thinks about Epic, but that quote by Wolski is fantastic.

Fantastic. I'm a huge Ridley Scott fan.
Do you have the name of the movie?

I do so hope it's Joe Haldemans's The Forever War.
The man's sure got a lot on his plate right now

welcome home. very exciting news... just keeps on a'comin :)

title isn't finalized for this particular project as of yet, if i'm not mistaken... i'm sure they'll work it out by the time they start shooting ;)

When does Ridley go into production? Will he be using EpicMs or EpicXs?

Almost overnight, Red is a household name in the industry. How does it feel Jim?

I said a few months ago that EPIC was everything I ever wanted. I couldn't ask for more. I guess I am not alone... :-)

If he's going to make a prequel to Blade Runner, he'd better hurry up, or he'll be making a documentary:001_smile:

I can only assume this means the Alien prequel. Regardless, you've got Ridley Scott onboard! Woohoo! :)

Wow! This is awesome! I think it's safe to say that with the Epic Red is really close to no longer being an "outsider" in the film industry but rather the standard. This is an amazing achievement on so many levels... congrats to you all.

Seeing stuff like this really puts into perspective how far Red has come since the cryptic rumors of a s35 camera on the various forums back in 2005. I'm so thankful to have been able to witness and, to some degree, take part in this bit of history!

Cheers,

Omar
