Bomb EVF Shipping

Tonaci just was here playing with the Scarlet 8x Fixed... He is the first "normal" person to ever hold a working one.. I am sure he will post soon.

Sometimes I wonder why people can't take a joke when they see one...
Oh well. :leaving:

Or is it? I think I know someone who just got moved to the back of the line. :smilielol5:

<no soup for you!>

Jeff and Jarred are definetly at the top of the list of Reduser posters that can dish out just the right kind of humor at just the right time to let others know they need to chill.

Soup.Nazi.

and this is pretty DUMB. Seriously, please anyone tell me what benefit RED has delaying shipping anything? LOTS out of their control on this and the original EVF> Supplier driven delays. FCC. all legitimate. Plenty of used EVF for sale and many more to rent.

If I were them, I'd take note of these bitchy whiny posters, and put them all in the BACK OF THE LINE... professional or not. These attacks seem personal and far less professional than Jarred attempting to laugh thru what are obviously VERY insulting posts.

Again dear whiners. Please give me one reason why RED would deliberately delay shipping anything? Frustratation is fine, reiterating the same firm grasp of the obvious is OBNOXIOUS.

Please don't try to obfuscate the argument. This is an important issue because RED's competitors do look at things like this and spread FUD. I can't remember where I read it, but someone mentioned that a Sony rep made light of EVF issue in a condescending manner, which is to be expected.

I know RED wants to share its vision with customers and fans alike far in advance, but I thought there was going to be a new concerted effort from RED to announce things when they were done. This puts an end to a lot of needless speculation and helps customers with forecasting and budgeting.

Your attitude seems particularly inconsiderate and gives the impression that will always tow the party line.

I like seeing things like the newest working Scarlet thread, but I don't like comments like "it's going to ship soon" without them actually being boxed and ready to be shipped.

Chuck... settle down.

and they are shipping.. and have been shipping since I posted this thread. Just not in the high volumes like we have planned. There are tons of customers that have the Bomb EVF.. just not all 7000 customers.

so relax... you getting wicked pissed off and calling people names and having a fit isn't going to make anything better.

Well said.

I didn't call anybody by any derogatory names. I am quite calm at the moment.

Chuck I feel your pain, but in all fairness you did describe the man's behavior as immature. I don't know anyone who likes being described as immature. So although its not a "derogatory name" it does qualify as name calling. Your frustration is valid (we are all super frustrated by the delays), but you are directing it in the wrong place. Shit happens and sometimes its not anyone's fault. Imagine what its like to be Jarred for a moment. Do you think he likes hearing his customers are unhappy? Sometimes things happen that are out of his control, and that makes everyone unhappy including Jarred. So, unless you think he deliberately holding the bomb EVFs hostage I don't see any possible positive effects of complaining.

Then Jarred goes on Reduser to try to explain the bad news and people are venting all over the place and making some pretty silly/rude comments like, "Stop the Epic production and deliver the EVFs". As if one has anything to do with the other, and even if it did nobody is asking for business advice. So, maybe Jarred could be more "professional", but that's not his style, or RED's for that matter. Treat him nice and he will treat you nice...period.

Its all pretty simple. Be patient, be considerate, don't assume anything, and they will deliver their super awesome camera and accessories just as soon as they possibly can. Complaining doesn't fix defective parts or make planes fly in snow.

I don't think Jarred is immature. I only thought the comment was. I can only go with what's in front of me. I don't pretend to know what Jarred is like offline nor will I try to.

I know Jarred is disappointed, as are all of the members of RED, but he should always try to reinforce a positive message in lieu of these delays, not make a comment that can be misconstrued as teasing.

RED should always lead by example in both a personal and professional capacity (one can hope).

Anyway, that's enough on that subject. We're getting ridiculously off-topic.

I just hope that there will be enough Bomb EVFs by the time everyone is lining up to collect their Epics.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised you would post this yesterday. You seem to have a short memory Zakaree.

I already posted my impressions of the Bomb EVF on this thread - it seriously rocks - small, light, crisp, clean, and very capable. Its a significant step forward from the original Red EVF - which was an excellent EVF in its own right.

Lastly, there's somehow an impression here that my friend Mark (Offhollywood) gets everything before the rest of us.

I was just messin around.. but I did forget that you got one! AWESOME.. Cant wait for mine.

And I didnt mean anything in a disrespectful way.. I know where you guys stand when it comes to red.. I hand delivered those cameras to you guys in august 07 :)

so rightfully, You guys get to test run the gear for us:)

glad to hear that they are moving out the doors

Thanks Zakaree...yup, we've been having fun putting the Bomb EVF through our normal outdoor mobile production work. It has performed without a hiccup...and the smaller form factor and weight are way cool for use in mobile work :)

You're gonna love yours...believe me, you'll know it was worth waiting for.

Chuck Z and the rest of Red User members:

I've known Jim Jannard for 25+ years, and most of Red Team, including Jarred, for 6+ years. They're all good friends of mine. Its remarkable how these guys (and girls) on Red Team have held up under these nearly five years of extremely long work days (and nights), and the pressure to innovate, create, fabricate, and deliver in a very demanding environment - and for a very demanding clientele. It fully blows my mind how well they've survived and performed under those circumstances...

IMO Jarred is the perfect fit for the position he holds on Red Team. He has the tech knowledge, web skills, and personality to be what Jim calls him - the "Fire Chief". He is a fire fighter of sorts, deftly dousing the multiple daily fires that come up each work day, while coordinating with us Red User members on what info can be released. By personality he's a way cool guy - laid back, casual, and personable. He likes to tease and joke - but that comes in way handy in breaking the stress of the workload he and Red Team are under.

The personality of Red naturally filters down from Jim - they pay close attention to business details, and really know their stuff - but their company personality is far from the cold, sterile, detached corporate mentality of most of the longtime manufacturers in this industry. They're real people, doing real cool things - and communicating closely with us customers. What a breath of fresh air that is!

Each of the Red Team members fills their roll to a T - Jim as the visionary ring leader and team builder, Ted as the roving ambassador, Jarred as the every day Fire Chief, Stuart as the equipment tech guru, Graeme and Rob Lohman as the ace coding guys, Big Jon as the longtime industry veteran, Brent and Kelly wrangling the daily accounts, and on and on throughout Red Team. Jim may have a lot a capital to work with - but he generated it at Oakley (and now Red) through his vision and team building skills.

These Red Team members are the kind of people who would give you the shirt off their backs - and they figuratively have to those of us who are customers. Lets all cut Red Team some slack, realizing that their aggregate company personality is refreshingly different than the norm, that they've been busting their rears for five years now to delivery great products, and they have been and always will deliver those products as soon as they possibly can. If they joke a bit with us along the way, we should take it as it is - coming from friends who have our best interest in mind.

What Gibby said :)

Steve - Even from what relatively little contact I have had with RED (especially compared with you), I have always felt a bit of what you have described; dedicated individuals, real people, who have come together not just in a company but united in a cause. They seem so dedicated and resilient that it is unreal. I hope people take your personal insight to heart and refrain from the personal and criticism as it just doesn't seem fair. In any case, thanks for the upbeat message and the eloquent way in which you deliver it.

Peace and happy holidays to all.
