  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Hobbit...

Is it safe to say that is what a production RED will look like? Little RED bolts and all? I am liking this configuration.

It just doesn't get much better than this. :-)

Jim

I certainly will get much better... Congratulations on making it REAL!

Congratulations to Everyone on Team Red!

Now I can't wait to see these movies on a giant screen -- I'm sure they'll inspire me whenever I'm holding my very own Scarlet

.

Will the Hobbit be shot with Epic-Ms (like gizmodo states) or production Epic-Xs? Or will be a mix of Tattoo brains with Epic-X and Epic-M (groupshot!)?

Massive congratulations.

I remember when I first put down a deposit for a Red One, back in 2006, and despite the scepticism all around me, there was vibe to Red that hooked me. I wanted to believe. It sounded outrageous, but possible. Like when Kennedy suggested that moon business.

Really glad to see how far things have come.

I have been waiting for The Hobbit film since I was a boy. Congrats to Jim and the rest of the Red team. A HUGE accomplishment, and I love how Peter Jackson is willing to rage against the machine:-)

I hear New Zealand's nice... pretty much all year.

We can't complain ;) but it does depend on what part of Nz your shooting in. Sub-tropical in the north to Sub-antarctic in the south, this is the reason for the huge diversity of landscapes and environments found here. Were spoilt we really are.

Anyone planning to shoot in Nz shoot me a email, I have a large home, cold beer in the fridge, 3 mins from the beach.... :wink5:

5 years ago I made the decision to build a camera. 3+ years ago we delivered the 1st ones. Today we are announcing that one of the biggest movies of our time will be shooting on our cameras. Pretty unbelievable.

Jim

That's a lot to be proud of my friend!

Congratulations. Well deserved.

M

Retirement to Fiji?

Jim

Noooo. You? Retirement? I thought you are having way too much fun to retire :)

Congratulations to you and to the entire RED team!

well thats.....distressing....I don't think LOTR would work for 3D. The type of story that it is, the settings, the production design, are all these fantastic elements that work really well in a non 3D environment. In reality, the only film I know of that 3D actually works as a storytelling device is TRON, because it makes sense.

Though, if they are dead set on 3D, at least they're shooting it that way and not doing post conversion.
