I really love the shoulder setup. That was one of the first things I did, was put it on the shoulder, then balance it until no hands were needed. Really cool.

For those that haven't seen the new dog bone setup, make sure you do so at the next RED event.

I'll take two!

What a really neat shot. Though I don't foresee doing much stereoscopic work myself, I can see how the small form factor and light weight are poised to revolutionize a lot of 3D work.

...and the buildout of that rig. Two cameras, two monitors, and a 3D rig. A very elegant solution. The dogbone system seems to be nearly as modular as the cameras themselves!

Awesome. Ha, that should put an end to the people who thought that balance was a bit off because the cameras looked to far further in previous posts.

Not to mention, IMHO, this should be a dagger in the heart for the people investing in all those Alexa 3D rigs.

Umm...SI3D?

Anyway, that's pretty cool. It looks like an extremely lightweight rig. Not sure if I'd no hands it or not, but still cool.

impressive!

impressive!

It's an impressive setup. I am curious about the small fan above the lens of the upper camera, any hints about its purpose? Just a generic cooling fan?

Jarred - is that setup for HDR? The ocular distance seams way to small...
Also - wouldn't the "chest-plate" limit the camera movement? Or is it somehow flexible...
I am so looking forward to this!

Cheers

Peter

PS: Any chance of getting back to me regarding the RED lenses vs the S3D rig compatibility?

Awesome Jarred! But when are we going to get away from using two cameras for 3D work and instead just have one camera with 2 sensors, etc. more compact setup. This is soooo promising though and indicative of that natural evolution to a self-contained 3D unit.

Umm...SI3D?

Credit where credit is due. SI3D doesn't have all the onboard RAW recording capability of Epic, does it?

In any event, I can see Epic3D becoming very popular. I'd love to hear about the experiences.

EDIT: Just noticed the addition of what look like ducted 40mm fans on the front of each epic below the lens mount. Those weren't there before, were they?

True, but in terms of weight and size, the Epic3D and the SI3D are fairly similar.

What's up with the big fans bolted on the brains under the lenses?
