  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I see these last few threads popping up on Recon and wonder... Maybe they are trying to get Recon's ratings up, to make sure new ground breaking announcements get the most "distribution"... anywho, that's what I am thinking, with a smile on my face. :emote_happyhappy:

I watch the OffHollywood postings... I think he knows where the line between the tease and the NDA is drawn.

Mark does let out a few hints when big stuff is happening, but he can't help it, and who could blame him! :)

I hope production shocks all of us, I got my fingers crossed for a thousand EPICs in the wild by year end, so as to make rentals more affordable.

The thread title totally had me thinking there was actual news!

Epic won't hit 2010. anyone over s/n 1000 wont get Epic until end of 2011 mid 2012

See this type of negative thinking, I guess is is only because you don't do this:attention9ha:

Jim said in more then one occasion, that things have changed since they didn't knew what they were doing, (he he) and have been learning a lot, so this time around production will be strong and in larger numbers.

I know I'm getting mines very shortly, way before the end of THIS year and I actually for some reason firmly believe that every one of us in stage II will!!

My guess has been August 31st for the first production Epics, exactly 3 years after RedDayZero with the remainder of Stage 2 shipped by the end of 2010. Obviously the infamous "bug" may push it later.

I know it has been said before, but as one of the early Red acolytes I want to commend the Madman and the RedTeam for understanding that this time around bulletproof is more critical than ship date.

It is also worth noting that there seems to be greater willingness on the part of the folks with their butts on the line to choose the RedOne this summer, vs last summer, when several network episodics went Genesis and D-21 instead of the RedOne. I attribute this partly to greater back end support by the bigger players, but mostly to the MX sensor and the improved color science. FWIW I strongly suggest doing a full res decode to really get the most out of the toe, no matter what the finish resolution might be.

Ketch, you are a very positive thinker. That's a good thing. But Jim has said he won't be releasing it without sufficiant testing. He's also said he's adding 13mm to the brain. I dont imaging that this is a quick thing to implement and i cant see it all happening in the next 5 months.

Wrong... if EPIC isn't in the hands of many in 5 months, I'm in deep trouble.

Keep this in mind. Jim has some darn good manufacturing experience with Oakley. RED took a little trial & error to get things going strong and they learned a lot. If I had to guess, we may all be a little off on what they are capable of this time around when it comes to manufacturing. I suspect that when the cameras are ready to go into production, it becomes a much more oiled machine than in the past. Just my suspicions. I don't actually know anything about the Epic manufacturing process.

Jim, I love you man, but what about being "suicidal" if they Epics aren't out by the end of Summa?

Jim said in the hands of many, a key point. Epics are already in people's hands right now and it's not end of summer yet.

Jim

I won't argue with that. I would love to believe i will have my stage 3 epic by December i've 3/4 saved already. Good luck jim!
