  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC is coming very soon!

I'm not sure anyone has any EPICS delivered other than specific shoots The RED Team has gone too with them.
Tattoo hasn't started yet I don't believe since they had the bug delay and now there's a small physical change to the body and internal re-spins needed.

just what I gathered from the posts that have been out recently.

Still, my money's on the Ultimate Insider.

I've a deal for Jim.

If Epic isn't out to all/ most stage 2 red owners by year end he tells us what number 21 is?

If Epic is delivered to all/most stage 2 owners by december 25th we all purchase a Red t-shirt. 7500 t-shirts at $20 each is a nice little xmas bonus. Hell, i'll even buy another pair of m-frames!

Jarred stated a bit over a month ago that the program had indeed begun. In fact, the Tattoo program probably helped significantly in weedling out the bug.

Correct... The Tattoo Program has already begun, Snake Oil, Lucky, Jackpot, Crackpot and Ghost are all Tattoo cameras that have been built in the last couple weeks. Several more are being assembled, and once Firmware V1.0 is ready, those new Tattoos will be delivered to the selected few that are in the Tattoo program.

I believe the key statement is "Once the firmware is ready." The firmware was held up by the bug so my inference is that it's not finished yet thus the external beta portion of the program is prob not moving forward yet. The Tattoo program itself was moving forward which consisted of them building the Tattoo EPICS for delivery once the Firmware was finished.

of course we're all splitting hairs here really :)

Sorry, this is your pile of manure. Don't include me to step in it.:nonod:

who do you consider this to be? just curious...
Perhaps you haven't been reading Jim's posts in other threads. He gives a very specific time frame, if not dates, for Epic to be reporting for duty.

I've been reading all the posts, sorry I misunderstood you to mean this to be someone other than someone from the RED Team :)

my bad. :coolgleamA:

Also I never said I thought Jim wasn't going to meet his quoted dates.
I was merely speculating on where the actual tattoo program was and the beta unit deliveries.

I don't have any "inside" scoop about RED in particular, but, a number of US based businesses looking to source components from best in class suppliers have discovered unique challenges in actually getting what they bargained for in their hands. Jim is obviously a savvy and successful businessman but even Apple, arguably the premier technology company in history, has suffered multiple delays and supply shortages on popular products.

Keep in mind how much more "custom" the Epic is than the RedOne on so many levels, it stands to reason that by making the engineering target more challenging more issues will crop up.

Never forget that Jim is a force of nature and he will find a way. They just have one hellava tough puzzle to put together. Just sayin'

Cheers- #19

I'm with you man.
I'm still amazed my alarm clock works much less an EPIC from scratch :)

Heh, heh, no. The man who makes the decisions and flatly states that a lot of Epics will be in customers hands at a certain time is who I consider the Ultimate Insider. I also give more weight to his words since he recently was very contrite over the bug bite. To hear him gettin' cocky again is a sign of confidence. Let the assembling begin.

point taken.

Ketch, you are a very positive thinker. That's a good thing. But Jim has said he won't be releasing it without sufficiant testing. He's also said he's adding 13mm to the brain. I dont imaging that this is a quick thing to implement and i cant see it all happening in the next 5 months.

Yeah Scott, if I wasn't.. I just wouldn't be here today.. and I certainly I wouldn't have any dreams left in me either..

Epic is coming trust me, I'm not just positive about this, I'm realistically assessing the market need for Epic & Scarlet and Jim's drive to provide us with it before this year's end.. and I'm counting on the Red Team to deliver.. they have my money.. my support..my respect and above all, my loyalty!!

For this not only am I always POSITIVE, and I believe, but I try to make of every one I know in the business or about to get in to this business, a RED user!!

3,846 posts Ketch - enough said.

I'm deciding if i should MX my red and keep it forever or wait until Epic stage 3 and trande it in. I can't afford to do both...

He he, yeah been stuck at home lately does give me some time to post.

Well MX is a must do, Period!!

However I would most definitely say, DO STAGE 3!!

Now, depending on your work, and if you think you can get revenue to pay for the MX upgrade, then no questions here as well, DO IT!!

But if you don't think that you can recoup the money of the MX, in either Rentals and or work of your own, then I might wait it out.
