  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HELP-Green Screen in QT.....

From the RED support page:

"We have confirmed reports, and can reproduce in the Lab, an issue with FCP 6.0.3 or 6.0.4 using the QuickTime reference movies that the camera is generating along with the R3D files, that produce a Green flash frame while editing the QT ref movies.

This issue is not related to the REDCODE Codec, and is not Firmware build related (we see it with both b15 and b16 footage)

It appears that this problem only occurs on clips that are longer than 1 minute in length.

The workaround until we have a fix is to render to ProRes any clips longer than 1 minute in your timeline, if you run into this Green Flashing clip problem. You can do this via the Log and Transfer plug-in, or via RedAlert. You can mix ProRes footage and the QT ref movies pointing to the R3D’s on the same timeline if you want for editing, if you don’t want to render all your shots to ProRes."

thanks karilla. i did see that however. i am getting the green screen on all clips, even if they are much shorter than 1min. also, it is only happening on build 16 clips, not build 15.

my issue is that i want to look at the proxies on set (that is my job) to view, and hear, the footage quickly. i do not have time to render to prores while on set. i need quick viewing capability. i can do this in REDCine (or REDAlert) but with no sound.

It won't kill me, but it sure is a problem i would love to have go away quickly.

hi. I just want to add. This isue just haplened to me one month ago. The only way that i work it around was to make my proxies into prores videos. It was painful but its the only way for this big problem.

Same Problem

Same Problem

when i open the proxies for footage shot on build 16 in QT, i get a green screen. i can hear the audio, but no picture....just green. it opens fine in red alert and redcine. any advice would be appreciated....

I had the same problem just 4 days ago. We downloaded all of the newest plug-ins and software and had the same thing happen.

We were shooting 4K 16X9 RC28 23.98fps.

Before we pulled the trigger, I called RED and asked if this was still a problem and was told NO. Now I have a little egg on my face with the client.

Lucky the footage looks so good and there was a work around. Just little growing pains still.

well, i fixed it in my other computer, but this same problem is popping up on the computer i am on now. i have downloaded all the latest codecs, checked my library, and the REDCode QT Component 3.5 is in there.

But still. Only Green screen in QT and Final Cut when playing the proxies back. Can hear the audio, but video is green.

I can't figure it out. Any suggestions??

We had this happen to us this weekend on the last day and what we did was re-copy the footage over and it went away. When I copy the files over I play the QT proxies to check to see if they work before formatting the card. In this case it made a difference.

Haven't had this issue, but if it's still giving you problems, have you tried re-generating the proxies through RA? That might fix it...

I had this problem yesterday! Running a quad mac 6 g ram. editing was fine, until I opened a new scene and it was all green. shut FCP down reopened and it was fine.
wasss up with that?
