We just got in the new RED/DSC labs RED Cambook Test Charts.

We worked closely DSC labs to make the perfect group of test charts for use with the RED camera.

8 x 11.5" Wire bound book that includs a custom calibrated ChromaDuMondewith an additional 6 over-saturated color chips orchestrated by our own Graeme Natress,
as well as 2 framing charts ( one of them with a 18% grey background) that cover 2:1, HD and 4.5k Wide formats unique to the RED.

Price is $425 for the book, will be in the RED.com store by the end of the day monday.

Hmmm, but a chart like this is still useful even if you don't have a Red yet, right?

For the Red camera, the ChromaDuMonde chart makes for a great color reference. Shooting the chart in each lighting set up can help the color correction process significantly.

If you are using an RGB camera(s), DSC color charts allow you to match cameras and set color using a vectorscope.

I paid over $1,500.00 for my senior size chart, so this book (with its additional 6 over-saturated color chips) is a great value.

Nice....

Can I take it underwater?

(okay, I know I can take it underwater - but would it be any good AFTER I take it underwater?)

Wouldn't it be cool if a camera was smart enough to know when it is looking at a test/calibration chart as ask the operator if they wanted it to calibrate to it?

Wouldn't it be cool if the DSP in a camera was smart enough that when looking at a frame chart it would ask the operator if they wanted it to take out the lens distortions to make the lines straight?

You must be on a PC, if your used to being asked questions by machines... Haha, just kidding. However, I would rather tell my hardware what to do, rather than it asking me if it can. I am a Mac user :-)

The only time I purchased a chip chart it cost me around $40.

Can someone explain to me the pricetag of this, and why it's such a deal? No bad intentions here, I think I'm just missing something huge.

working on that... ( quite seriously )

Exactly what I need!

Are they available as of Monday or can be ordered for future delivery?

Good to see things announced at NAB to finally hit the store :-)

I'd like to know about the price, too. I was shocked at $425. I would have expected no more than $100. What do you get that is so special for your $425?

I just want to remind everyone that you need to use a vectorscope that has x2 gain, otherwise the chart image will not line up properly w/ the graticule on the vectorscope.
