  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC + Kenneth Willardt

so dose this mean tatoo is now in effect?

While it may be (?) in effect already, this doesn't really make an assertion either way.

Seems more like Jarred simply brought one of his along as a sort of pleasant surprise for the crew.

In fact, it looks like Crackpot judging from the red screws and the lettering seen here:

The most important part of light kit are lightweight lenses.

For example if you have a light camera and too heavy lens that's not so light configuration even on airport checking points...

it sure is nice to have the option to bring along whatever lenses you want...

I am well aware of that. :) In my personal kit (and my favorite lenses) I have Cooke S2/S3's and I can literally fit them in my jeans pocket- the heaviest one is maybe 1 lbs. Additionally I have an Arri MB-17b, which is only about 1 - 2 lbs with filters. So to date, the bulk of the weight has been the Red itself along with the batteries ... I can't wait for the lighter and smaller Epic.

Jarred or Jim said a while back that we would know when Tattoos were in the field so I'm still waiting on some kind of official notification, but it's bound to happen real soon. At least - it looks like it will be soon as the guys at Offhollywood appear to be enthusiastic about "something" on Twitter ;-) I'm thinking they will be getting one real soon :-)

When the tatts are out i'm sure the news will fly around so fast you won't know what hit you and where it came from.

Its still rather frustrating that the orginal concept camera (ie. the fixed 2/3") is still not on show or shooting stills/motion for us to see. Its always Epic or Scarlet S35. I know we'll get to see it when RED are able but I really can't wait to see a shot from these puppies!!

Thankfully I am a patient man and a gentleman taboot!!

Scarlet S35? Wow. I must have missed it. When did we see anything from Scarlet S35?

OK,

Would you consider spilling the beans and letting us know if the canon and nikon mounts are happening?

Four screws to swap them out, right?

David

very exciting...can't wait

He he, yeah in fact is safe to say that no one is "REALLY SURE" of anything, LOL.

Well I spent the majority of the day animating a nazi flag for a Polish film. A moral conundrum of doing my best to make a nazi flag look 'good'. I feel slightly weirded out. I'm not sure of anything anymore....

i thought i saw a R1 there!!

i thought i saw a R1 there!!

Yup.. on day 1 Kenneth shot the MX, I showed up on Day 2 with just the Epic Brain in my back pocket and he was able to use all of the support equipment from his R1 Package to get it going :)

Kenneth was a pleasure to meet... this man has definitely embraced the movement aspect of Fashion Photography and is bringing things to a whole new level.

I thought i saw a Red one on that video and i was asking my self if it had the MX sensor!!

I thought the Epic was finally being released by May? It's June.

Every page on RED's website has the following written on it:

Specifications, prices and delivery dates are subject to change. Count on it.
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone with a bad attitude.

I don't need to make excuses for RED, but what they are doing is a little bit different that what other manufacturers take on. They have always always given release dates, prices, and specs with caveats that the nature of their work may result in delays or changes.
