my threads keep getting pulled...
whats the deal?

I wasnt promoting 7/5d...

I was dis promoting it...

and i was just asking what post process they used on house...

I had another one last week on a rad music video from M.I.A.
and it was yanked too...

wtf is going on

Some may feel negative towards the thread closures..but really.. this is a RED forum. I honestly don't think they have to justify thread closures. It's their house they can do whatever they want.

:iagree:

I think it really helps REDuser stay focused.

Just the ones that always get out of hand really. If a similar trend start appearing with a Sony cam arousing too much slander, then I am sure they will take action there as well.
So no, it's not a Canon "thing" - it just happens to be so that Canon 5D/7D are the ones causing all the trouble.

True.. but I did post in "other topics"
which by nature doesnt need to be RED related...

but martin cleared it up for me.. there were multiple posts of the same stuff i guess.. plus he said they turned ugly.. I didnt get to see that part.. but i guess it makes sense..

house = anti canon people arguing..
MIA = anti-realists arguing..

all good

Why doesn't Red have a subforum called "The Pit" that's completely unmoderated, enter at your own risk, etc? Sort of a purgatory of threads, anything the mods don't like can go there. They could configure it such that Google wouldn't crawl it, and visible only to those logged in. Many forums have these dumping ground subforums, it helps keep a clean community while also avoiding dictatorship.

Good idea Shawn,no great idea.It strikes me there`s a lot of brain power/creativity here and it might help depressurize the forum if it ever got a bit hot under the collar, and i wouldn`t have to constrain my Tourretty nature so much in such an enviroment.:-)

Instead of the Pit, you should call it "The Septic Tank" cause that's where all the shit gets stored ;-)

The problem is, fair or not, what happens on reduser.net reflects on RED themselves in the greater community. A couple people being vocally anti Canon on the forum, looks to passer byes like all of reduser is anti Canon.

That "House" thread was passed around Twitter and now a lot of people I talk to think all RED owners hate HDSLRs for no reason. The crazy thing is nothing could be further from the truth. Pretty much every RED owner I know owns a Canon HDSLR and enjoys using it in the right situations.

DVXUSER is the place to talk about everything DSLR including projecdts shot on them. At least that is what Jim asked for many months ago. I'm not quite sure what is so hard to get about this.

It's HARD to get because people like myself don't want to post on 10 different forums just to share information. I don't spend anytime on DVXuser anymore. All of my internet budz are on Reduser. This is the only forum I come to and post regularly. The whole, go to DVXuser if you want to post about HDSLR is a big turn off because I have no connection on those sites anymore. Reduser is my pad.. That's why people like Zak, me and others are vocal about Red not shutting down these threads and sub-forums. We don't want to have to go elsewhere. Oh well. It's Red's house and I'll just abstain from posting all together if thats the case.

The 4chan of Reduser .. I like it

We do. We call it The Internets™. It's awesome. It even comes with a search engine that is more awesome than the one here on Reduser. With an awesome hack you can even get it to show only messages relating to RED. Awesome!

There is also an awesome place for discussing DLSR and other cameras. It is called dvxuser.com. If you are only interested in RED cameras, you only subscribe to reduser.net and save yourself a lot of time (well, in theory). If you want to know about other digital film making tools, subscribe to dvxuser.com. It's awesome. Then you'll have 2 fora to read - which is only 20% of 10.

Yesterday, before going to bed I thought about posting a little thank-you on this thread for that it hadn't turned into a "Red is limiting our freedom of speech" discussion which seems to happen every time a thread like this turns up. A few hours of sleep later, and of course now it is heading this way. It is really exhausting being put in that corner whenever we do our job. Not awesome.

Martin, that is a acrid, petty and condenscending reply to my well intended suggestion that in no way insulted or put you or Reduser down. I would say what that reply reminded me of, but I don't wish to continue to "elevate" this converation in like tone. How can this community evolve if we can't have honest conversation about improving things? I'm not sure if you read what's written about Reduser around the web, even by level headed and respected people....anyways, I love Reduser, big time, I've posted here more than almost anyone. I want to see this place improve, better S/N ratio, better communication, better community. It doesn't mean all my suggestions are implementable, but my heart is in the right place. I do still go to DVXUser sometimes, but, with a few notable exceptions, it's not nearly the same caliber and the Reduser people dont go there (so ditto to Rick's post). So are you suggesting we need a new forum that's on the level with Reduser's talent base but for all aspects of filmmaking?

Shawn,

I'm not sure this would work and in the long run, it sort of condones a level of discussion that it seems REDUSER is trying to rise above on. Ultimately, REDUSER is a business that is run by Landmine Inc. This business needs to sell advertising, etc to exist. The forum is set up as a business which makes it a dictatorship, not the last bastion for free speech about camera's on the internet.

I feel that when you create a stimulating intelligent, well rounded discussion it will attract better people and better advertisers which will contribute to the overall experience.

Have a "pit" (snake pit) and well, just imagine what that will attract?

Some folks here run their mouth a bit too much and it can make this community seem like a bunch of dorks.

I think REDUSER is moving in the right direction because I come here to learn and share, not to shit all over anything that is not RED or to discuss cameras that I think are better or worst than the one I own.

David
