I'm not sure this would work and in the long run, it sort of condones a level of discussion that it seems REDUSER is trying to rise above on. Ultimately, REDUSER is a business that is run by Landmine Inc. This business needs to sell advertising, etc to exist. The forum is set up as a business which makes it a dictatorship, not the last bastion for free speech about camera's on the internet.

I feel that when you create a stimulating intelligent, well rounded discussion it will attract better people and better advertisers which will contribute to the overall experience.

Have a "pit" (snake pit) and well, just imagine what that will attract?

Some folks here run their mouth a bit too much and it can make this community seem like a bunch of dorks.

I think REDUSER is moving in the right direction because I come here to learn and share, not to shit all over anything that is not RED or to discuss cameras that I think are better or worst than the one I own.

A well written post, I can see that side of thinking.

So what do you propose to do about the out of control S/N ratio? Everyone I have talked to in person agrees that the value of this place keeps going down. It's getting harder to get good information here and get questions answered or converse.

Second, what's your proposal for where Redusers should go to discuss filmmaking that doesnt directly interact with a Red? DVXuser is not the answer, neither in cinematography dot com

It might be the format of the thread itslef and it's very poor search functions. I find that there are other forums with much more functionality, where threads are kept short, there are excellent discussions and the search engine is very relavent.

I think that, as users, we have to ask for and demand this kind of experience from this forum. We know that the search is not so great, we know that important information is easily lost. We know that we do not need to post the word awesome into threads just to let RED know we love them.

Threads need to get closed the moment the discussion veers. If I was a MOD here, I would consider contacting individuals privately to educate them about the etiquette of the forum.

What everybody wants here is a rich user experience. I think RED wants that more than anyone else, but people come here mostly to see what RED is saying, you just have to check the thread view count. RECON, Crucial ordinance have like ten thousand more views than anything else.

I'm not advocating people change places on the internet to discuss all things RED, but I would suggest for sure that this forum will loose and have lost valuble contributers because of the obserdly high level of noise.

sure reduser exists for RED.. but its a place we are all "addicted" too..
we have an APP on our iphones for godsake..

its a one stop shop for many..including me.
Id like to discuss all things
the business
red cameras
crazy awesome music videos
heated blown up politics (jk)
new toys
whatever...

but thats just what I would like..

i dont go to dvxuser..

I rarely post on cinematography..
