the sigma is incredibly sharp wide open....it beats anything at 1.4....well made, good price....i had to check out 3 different ones before i chose one....CA is a problem, as it is with all lenses wide open....the one i settled for had a little less CA then the other 2.....

+1, I love the Nikon for its specific look, but you might also not be able to fit it into the Red Nikon mount without modification.

Cheers, Ulf

The Nikon 50mm f1.2 will fit the mount as it was not available in the early F mount which needs to either be modified for the Red mount or used on the Optitek mount. The manual lenses were AI and AI-s mounts. The AI may be more desirable as many AI Nikons had more than 90 degrees of focus barrel rotation. Most of the AI-s lenses were made for quick focus and had 90 degrees or less focus barrel rotation.
Hope this helps.

+1 Nikon AI 50mm f1.2

Thanks for the info!
I read posts of photography that the 50 1.2 up to f4 makes less that the Zeiss.
from f1.2 and f4 and for shooting close subjects is unrivaled.
I use the 50mm especially for 2 people talking or interviews for doc. (f4 or f5.6)

The Zeiss has about a 180+ degree of barrel rotation. It's great for manual focusing. I'm sure both lenses are.
