I was wondering what front 2x retro anamorphics people might recommend as a cheap set? i been eyeing Ultrascopes and Lomo Square and Round Fronts... They all seem relatively cheap vs say contemporary glass options like Masters or Cookes... or even the best ways to source these? resellers vs ebay luck of the draw? I'm very interested in shooting non spherical for my personal projects but even after much studying and reading on retro anamorphics it seems like theres not a ton of info or footage out there, lots of variation in what condition stuff is in, etc. so for someone not able to just rent out nice stuff from panavision or hawk/vantage what would you recommend as far as both sourcing and just educating myself more? i really like both the price and the look of Lomos or Ultrascopes, and it seems that I can even source super telephoto Ultrascopes so buying both sets long term could be lot of fun too i imagine...
what do you guys recommend for PL adaptors or modification as well? Oct 18/19 and standard are on a lot of the cheaper stuff, so id need to come up with solutions for that plus an on board monitor for my my arri which since its amira can't desqueeze for me in camera..
