What is the difference between the Opton Zeiss superspeeds and the regular ones?
I noticed a difference in the text on the front of the Superspeeds I am considering buying and am totally confused to see something other than 'Carl Zeiss Distagon, etc.'

Also, is this a Mark II lens? And how can you tell?

Thanks, Daniel

Well after a little research, the way I understand it, is that there really isn't any optical/mechanical difference between the ones that say Opton and the ones that say Zeiss. Zeiss apparently had to call themselves Opton when selling their lenses in East Germany because another company actually had rights to the name Zeiss (DDR) over there.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct - it comes from the days when Zeiss Jena were the east German company and so Carl Zeiss needed to brand differently.
Now they are all one..
