Trying to complete my set of Zeiss Oberkochen / Opton or Zeiss Super Speed MKIII glass.

Need a 50 MM MKIII, ideally Oberkochen / Opton. No MKII or converted B-speeds please.

May be interested also in a 18/21/35 and or 105/135 as well down the road.

PM please

Thanks,

Todd

I am not sure you will find a Opton Oberkochen MK3. I think Germany was already united before making the MK3.

Thx Omkar — it's kind of baffling finding any info on the Oberkochen. I bought a 25 + a 85 and need one in the middle... and then maybe something wider and closer. I would have expected them to make a 50. the MK IIs all have the triangular iris which won't cut together so well with the MKIII style iris.

How many iris blades do they have? You may be able to get standard MKIII Super Speeds to complete your set. Remember, "Opton" was the brand name Western Zeiss used to sell their products in East Germany. Sounds like you may have MKIII Super Speeds (rebadged and sold across the Iron Curtain).

Maybe go to Du All and check if any of Steve's Super Speeds match yours?

They have between 6-8 blades. Hex/octagonal bokeh. They are definitely repackaged Super Speeds. I found a loose MKIII ƒ1.2/50mm but they are asking $8500 — um no.
AbleCine did repair on 25mm, I didn't think Steve had any Supers in stock.

They are not this: [MK I / II style]

Of course, mine is at the studio, otherwise I'd post some photos.

A single Mark III 50mm for $8500 is very fair... That equals 42,500 as 5, which is a good deal on Mark III's.
Good luck!

The MK1, MK2 & MK3's are identical glass, only difference is the focus rings. MK1 has around 180 degree rotation, MK2 has more then 270 degree and MK3 has the focus gear match for the .8 gears. The pics shown is a B- Speed lens, which has 3 blades and came as a bayonet mount.
