  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Zeiss MK III for sale

well, if no one else will say it, i will: i think this officially proves that the days of silly-crazy prices for used super speeds are finally over. these look (from what i can tell in that tiny shot) like a nice set, but it seems no one is thinking of paying this kind of money for them anymore. thank goodness those days are gone.

The seller replied " Quality has is's prize "
And we shared this opinion. Throughout our economical situation new lens manufactures are producing cheaper lenses, of course if we compare their standarts in terms of the droop of illuminance, and and..for sure they all show good results. But someone who worked already intensely with Cooke S4's or other major Primes, lenses which should stay anyway a business for rental companies, can tell very well the differences, and creates a beautiful picture already with the one light version through its special/specific lens characteristic. Especially those cinematographers who are able to immerse themselves into the visualtion of their given project.
Each lens has it's own beauty, like Primos or Cookes's and each tell their own story but unfortunatelly less and less people care about these prinziples.
Filmtools for motion picture industry was and will be unfortunately always expensive, but to create the optimum of a visual quality we anyway have rental companies and do not really have to own such professional epuipment.
Anyway, with the MK III's we were very glad because of it's brilliance/weight/size and through these qualities we had a very fluent rental.

all valid points and poetically explained, yet this facts where the same 3 years ago, before the red came out. in those days you could find a set like this for under 20k, sometimes a lot under 20k. what changed the prices was the market forces, which right now are changing again. i guess we are just going to have to wait until the dust settles.

Everybody hopes for better times, many young new "red rental" owners tell us tell us the same thing that productions are fine in renting FD lenses, so why purchasing major primes. As a cosequence not only the quality is shifing, through their low prizes they already offer under the counter ( A company who rents a Panasonic HVX has often already the same prize as someone who has his own red and start to and rent it privatly out ), they ruin the whole filmmarket and unfortunately sooner it will, in turn, effect them twice as hard.
...but these are issues ( quality&prize dumping) which Obama certainly doesn't have the time to integrade in in his 'change'.

I totally agree with you!

strange, the two mysterious nameless strangers with 5 posts each agree... now that's a coincidence you don't often see...

what is strange about that, "Darkstar". big star wars fan? i liked the first one too, maybe not as much as you, but i did . where you upset the name "Yoda" was already taken?

by the way, Cinegear, congrats on selling the lenses. i am surprised, but glad for you.

My little narrative set of Mk2 Super Speeds 25, 50 & 85mm are still available. $6K/lens, discount for the set of 3. I love 'em but I gotta pay off those RPPs...

Cheers - #19
