Hey guys.

Ive been doing some research on the Compact Primes and looking at some tests, mostly from people using 7Ds or 5Ds, but I was just curious on what the Red community thought of these lenses?

If anyone has footage they have shot using them or if they could share information, that would be great!

Thanks guys!

Thanks Paul. I tried before I posted and didn't get what I was looking for, but I found one nice thread that gave some pretty honest opinions on these lenses.

Which thread, Michael?

Also, someone was working on a new comprehensive review, not sure when he will release it.

Shane, I would actually drive to Austin and check them out if you didn't mind one day.

Im purchasing an Epic-S, got all the financials squared away, and im really trying to find a good lens set. Not wanting to shoot nikon or canon glass, I started looking around and those CP.2 seemed pretty nice. Either that or a RPZ 18-85. And I haven't heard the best stuff about the RPZ.

Re-reading that old thread, I came across this comment:

"Also the focus marks are off a bit on the RPP. You can have them remarked/adjusted and have new rings installed at Duclos lenses for a reasonable price."

I've never used RPP's. What's meant by this? What's the point of having marks on a professional lens series if they need to be re-marked?? Is this a calibration issue or do RPPs really need to be adjusted with new rings?

My RPPs never had an issue with marks being off. They were spot on until the day I sold Them.

It's not that they are off, they just don't have a full spread of numbers. Duclos can add some of the missing witness marks. This may not be an issue when working solo.

All the best!

Dave
