Hey everyone, my 100mm 2.8 non L just died and I'm looking at the Canon 100 2.8L, Zeiss 100 Makro, and Zeiss CP2 100 Makro. I'm leaning towards the 100 2.8 due to the Zeiss being double the price and the CP2 Makro being 4 times the price. I was planning on picking up 1-3 cinema lenses 3rd qtr of 2015 but Q1 has been kind and I can afford to spend up to 10-15K on some new glass. After looking at some older posts and prices online it seems my options are the Canon CNE and Zeiss CP2. My background is product and food so the Zeiss CP2 100 T2.1 Makro-Planar T and the 50 Makro are on the top of my list. My main reason for a cinema lens is the long smooth focus throw and I'm tired of stripping the focus gears in my EF macro lenses. Any opinions? Should I just stick to EF lenses? or is there any modifications I can do to lengthen the focus throw? I'm going to fly to Taiwan next week for a job and 2 weeks of vacation after that it'd be fun to bring some new glass on the trip since I don't get out much.
