On my Scarlet i'm having issues with the f stop repeating. In other words from a 5.6 and opening the electronic controlled iris, in 1/3 increments. The camera reads out that the iris is opening. By the time i get to f1.6 the exposure hasn't changed much. The final click to f1.4 then the lens seems to open 2 or more stops ? Ive tried the lens on my 5d, with no issues. Any one else experiencing problems with this Zeiss focal length ?

Yes, re-powered. New firmware in cam...same business. I haven't tried another 50mm Zeiss f1.4, but i have tested with my other Zeiss ZE primes and i don't have that issue with them.

Sounds like a Zeiss issue then... I had a similar problem today with my 50mm f1.4.. I didn't get any incremental readout problem - the screen updated and the blades opened, but from f1.6 to f1.4 there was a huge jump and the image blew out.. Didn't really think about it at the time as stopping down again, the image got decreasing-ly bright so seemed ok. Certainly no worries in post and the metadata is accurate.

anyone got a solution/explanation?

Simon

Sounds Like the same issue. I can click the iris open and close using the side handle. The screen reflects the change correctly, i.e. corresponding with the direction i'm opening or closing the iris. Though the iris is really not opening the correct amount. By the time i reach f1.6 i can tell its not a 1.6, then once i open to full f1.4 it seems to open fully as it should at f1.4...Confused if its a programming issue in the RED firmware or an issue with just my lens...?

no, thats exactly how i'd describe my "problem." I just always started at f1.4 and stopped down - it always worked that way and its how i generally achieve decent exposure to start wide open and stop down until the histogram reads correctly....

I'll tag this thread as it would be good to know if its a firmware or hardware issue as it looks unlikely to be,say, a damaged/dirty contact with two separate lenses...

Regards

Simon
