They're quite expensive for what they are. A set of 2.1 MkII Standard speeds is still around the $20k mark and they are better lenses. I remember watching a set very similar (If not the same set) being sold a few months ago and it went for about $4000 if memory serves.

You'll probably find it difficult to make back $17,000 from rental of MkI Zeiss Primes if that's your intention.

Hold out for Red Primes, other lenses or a zoom such as the Cooke 20-100mm is my suggestion.

I agree with Paul, these are way too expensive for what they are. They're not even in PL mount. You can do a lot better. Everything I've ever seen from provid is about twice as expensive as it should be. Get a nice cooke zoom or even a set of zeiss zf nikon mount and add zacuto gears to them.

T 2.2 lenses

T 2.2 lenses

These lenses are capable of nice images on the Red but they will be inconvenient compared with the later generation PL mount primes. Focus marks on the barrel will be difficult to view once mounted to the camera because of the mount and the focus gear. You will want to step them up to 80 mm. or another common matte box size, requiring additional investment.

At somewhere between five and ten grand these lenses would be a worthy option to consider.

ask if they are t coated lenses. I don't think they are. the mechanics on these old old lenses make them hard to pull focus and hard to view the markings. Honestly the set is worth not much more than $6,000- $7,000 in really good condition.

you can get the 85mm at visual products for 800 dollars you have to add the pl mount and the focus gear. but it should put some perspective on the realistic value of that set.

I bought a similar set recently for $7k with the coating, focus rings, PL mounts, collimated and back focused, so I'd say it's waaay too much. These are great little lenses - they are the older small barrel and great for personal use, but not rent able.

Thanks a lot for the advice and the lesson. I'll hold out as Paul said for the Red primes. Billy
