This looks to be a great MacBook pro alternative. Has xeon processor, Quattro m1000m and up to 32gb of ram. The part that got me interested is it has 2 thunderbolt 3 ports. I chatted with an hp rep and he said that the ports are dedicated like that MacBook pro. So both can run at full speed at the same time. Very interesting... Does anyone have this or use it?

The GPU is weak, other than that it looks pretty good. And Apple has not shown us a new MacBook Pro yet... Not sure I'd want to pay the premium for the Xeon CPU here. The new i7's are identical, other than the name stamped on them.

Asymmetric touch pad...we meet again.

Designed by rationalists.

Because of course left hand is shorter and most commonly used for touch pad.

...designed by rationalists who had to work within a list of requirements set by committee.

It says on the website its a m1000m with 2gb of vram but when you dig deeper there is a 4gb of vram m1000m that hp makes for this as well.

Mr. Murphy, you seem to be having a difficult time figuring out how to spend your lunch money. Perhaps you could be a bit more specific about the job description this laptop is needed for. I'm sure there has to be a solution for you.

I know this is the struggle of my life apparently. My desktop is failing and I just had a kid (I work from home). In order to get crap done I will need to start getting out of the house to work. I have a raid at home with a 10gbe switch. All my stuff is pc so I dont want a macbook pro. There in lies the problem. I want something I can do editing and basic color on the go but something I can export out and do some more heavy hitting stuff at home. Red Rocket x card is too expensive. I literally got stuck in a dream last night where all I could think about was ports on laptops. All night long...Its bad. I need help.

But the 1000m, even with 4GB VRAM, is only 40% as powerful as an 5000m or 980m.

This is a real conundrum here. The dual TB3 ports on the zBook is very enticing, otherwise the Dell XPS15 is a better notebook.

Sager sells Clevo models which we sell as well. The new Skylake Clevo laptops shells have 970M and 980M graphics card options. There are atleast 2 or 3 models that also use Desktop CPU's ie the 6700K cpu instead of mobile. This gives far greater processing power in a mobile shell versus mobile CPU's. However the trade off is battery life. You would need to be able to plug in most of the time since the desktop CPU's use up the battery very quickly.
