Hi guys,

Remember Evin Grants excellent Zacuto solution?......

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=100777&highlight=zacuto#post100777

I just looked up the parts for my friend Donatello, and I thought some of you could use the info as well.....

1 Z-Lock 19mm, $75 ....... the part that slides on the 19mm rod.

2 Z-Lock 15mm, $70 ....... the part that slide on the 15mm "Zud 1/4 20"

3 Zdapter Backplate, $60 ...... the part that you bolt the two Z-locks together with.

4 Zud 1/4 20, $44 ....... the part that you screw the RED Arm into.

What if you go with 15mm rods? Element Technica is supposedly coming out with a 15mm top mount rod option. If so, would you just omit step #1 Z-Lock 19mm, $75 ....... the part that slides on the 19mm rod?

Not "omit", but rather substitute part 1 with an additional part 2.....

So you would need a Z-Lock 15mm to slide on to your 15mm rod, and a 2nd Z-Lock 15mm for the "15mm Zud 1/4 20" to slide into.

Hey Bassam,

Yes, this is what REDuser Rock Star "Evin G" uses. :-)

They day he found the Z parts, he purchased two set's..... One set was for me.

That's why when Donatello asked.......

I had to go to the Zacuto web page to figure out what Evin used.... and it occured to me, some of you guys would appreciate the info.

Also,

As Mitch has pointed out, Abel Cine has the parts.... in fact, that's where Evin purchased them.

Remember that you can use Z adapter on the lower rods, if you go shoulder mounted, you can place it way out on the end of the rod in front of the MB, etc...... That really helps to see the LCD then.

Happy New Year.

Thanks Sam,

As noted, we have the Zacuto gear in our showrooms in NY & LA. Anyone is free to come in, test the stuff and configure the rig as they see fit. Zacuto parts are like Lego, you can make anything you like out of it. The RED rig pictured on their website is just a suggestion; you can rig it out however you wish. There is definitely a way or two to rig it for handheld that can also be shoulder mounted, as the plate the camera mounts to has a mounting point on the bottom for a tripod.

To many Z's.......

There were a few Zacuto parts I want to use for a RED package in SF took me a few to figure out 3 individual pieces were needed......

good stuff though

Hi Sam we have been using the Zacuto parts for several months formonitor support. The releases are tight and don't slip or fail. consider using the zacuto arm also instead of the red completely eliminating the possibility of slipping on the screw threads. also it is longer for better positioning. We often use it as a dir monitor over the back of the camera. ps varizoom makes a small hood that is cheap and works well.

Three parts the one shown hooks to the rods the arm slides into the other 15mm hole no threads the other end gos p[ermanently onto the back of the monitor.
