  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm wondering how many Redusers are interested in this accessory as an alternative or replacement for Bomb evf? I only saw a very early prototype at NAB, and haven't really kept up with changes as this was developed further. What sets this EVF apart?
 
I think the big one is the ability to apply 2 different custom LUTs one for internal EVF and the other for pass through SDI or HDMI. The resolution is very good it is also a 4:3 aspect ratio so there is space above and below the picture for waveforms, vector scopes etc. also I believe that it also has a huge picture by all reports.
 
I preordered via ABEL, from what I got to see of it in person this blows the BOMBS away. It's not quite as good as the ALEXA evf which I use as the gold standard, but it's also not nearly as expensive. The biggest difference is that this is camera agnostic, so you don't need to buy the +1 module, it does cross conversion, and multiple luts.

It it looks like the cost went up nearly 20-25 percent since it was unveiled. But I'm willing to give this thing a try.
 
ive been waiting patiently for this, reds evf is pretty much dead to me
 
This will be a target purchase for me at NAB 2015.

Lets see if anyone else competes with the HD version.
 
Looks like another 20% off is available if you use the code SUMMIT20. So you can get the HD for about $2,300 now. I'd pre-order without even thinking about it but our currency (CAD) is sh*tting the bed right now and the industry the majority my clients are in has me re-considering "non-necessary" purchases over the next while.

I thought that the pre-order pricing is no longer available? I'm seeing it for $3800 now. Seems a bit steep...

Mandy here from Zacuto. The pre-order price of $2900 is over but we lowered the overall list price to $3100. Some dealers are still showing the higher list price of $3800 and we are working to get this corrected. http://store.zacuto.com/gratical-hd/
 
Tech specs seem to be similiar at 1280x720 so how much better can the Zacuto be? Frankly turning off the Focus Tool with my Bomb OLED EVF makes it looks so soft it could be standard definition. I would love to see a 1920x1080 EVF.
 
I'm really disappointed with the LT version. I think they should've done what SmallHD did with the DP7/AC7 - drop the scopes and all that nonsense that a lot of us don't bother with but keep the great panel. Instead they leave in all the fluff but switch to a lame-o panel.

I don't even see the LT version on their website. Is it too pixelated? The HD version has 1.56X more pixels which will help some.

I would love a 1920x1080 panel with 4K input and the ability to see 4K 1:1. Like what the Atomos Shogun can do.

Darn. I had it in my shopping cart already at the lower price and was about to pull the trigger.
