  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Your favorite ultra-small lenses?

Voigtlander makes the 40mm and 35mm both in F1.4 versions with Leica M mount. The M mount is still looking to be a very intriguing option from RED and Leica isn't the only maker of lenses to fit it. They also have 21, 28, 50, 75, 90 (or 95) and one or two others in M mount form as well. Apertures ranging from F2.0 to F4.0 depending on the lens model in question. All of them seem to be around $500 or less, one or two a bit over, but definitely something to consider. Can pick them up used on ebay or keh.com or similar for less. I'm very interested in the M mount myself, but don't own any M mount glass at the moment. ...We also have to wait for a fix from RED to use more of the wide angle lenses on that mount too -- don't recall what the exact issue is or if it applies to more than just the Leica M lenses.

PL mount: Zeiss Standard speeds or Leica Summiluc-C primes (Beyond most of our reach currently)
Nikon Mount: G primes or Leitax Modded Leica R lenses
Canon mount: Leitax Moded Leica R lenses
Leica-M mount lenses are the best choice but currently only 50mm and longer can mount.

I agree 100% with what Evin wrote !!!!

Just get an idea how Voigtländer lenses are small:

Voigtländer Ultra Wide-Heliar 12mm f/5.6 Aspherical is one of the smallest lenses ever I put on my RED1.
