I was just wondering what everyone's case configuration for their Red package was at the moment.

I have a pelican 1620, but am looking to get some extra cases for lenses, batteries, etc. and I was hoping to get some ideas as to what case I should get next and how I should divide up my accessories.

I can't tell you what size you need, but I'll let you know what I've planned on doing. I hate having a ton of cases, but it's really better to have things divided up.

- RED, LCD, rods, RED drive, CF cards, basic production pack in one case
- 4 batteries and charger in another case
- Mattebox & filters in it's own case
- Follow focus in it's own case
- Lens in it's own case

I think by having more cases, instead of cramming the gear into as few cases, it will be better protected.

I hate building cameras so I'm trying to come up with something for everyday use that will allow the camera to stay fully assembled. Probably will get some custom size from http://www.thermodyne.com/

Still figuring it out. For airline travel I'll probably do things differently.

Dose anyone know how well thermodyne cases stack up to pelican or storm?

They are all pretty nice. I'm not a fan of Pelicans because they are heavy. Storm are really good cases from everything I've heard. I'll look into those too, but thermodyne specializes in custom cases.

I've been travelling around a lot with my Red by air. We're using a pair of Pelican 1610 cases for Red gear. Cases have their own wheels and handles which pop up for easy transport. In fact we do the same for location audio gear now.

- RED (...) in one case
- 4 batteries and charger in another case
If you are planning on air travel, I would always recommend having one battery inside the camera case, in case they should get split up. That way you would have a good-to-go camera, while the airline sorts out their mess.

Better safe than sorry ;)

Has anyone actually gotten some custom cases made up? Who'd you use?
