hello fellow red peeps,

I apparently suck at selling this lens, i've been trying to sell it for three weeks now in a market that I know exists but every time someone emails me interested, it takes me a week to get back to them because i've been slammed on set. so now I have made it my personal goal to get rid of this thing this week. It's a Cooke 20-100 3.1, serviced and projection tested by Motion Picture Services of Dallas and is flat out bad ass. I've shot with all of the red lenses and the ang 25-250 and this cooke blows them all out of the water. Please call me or email me an offer, thanks.$7500.

Might want to consider lowering yor price to sell..
its not exactly worth 7500 anymore.

now with the 18-85 out and still lenses making a big splash with alot of Redusers.. the old zoom market isnt exactly "HOT" anymore.

You could probably get 3500-4000

I would pay $3500.

Okay, maybe $4,152.48.

(Hey, just trying to keep this thread at the top for ya. Hope you sell it for a fair price quickly.)

still have this puppy

i see people don't think it's worth 7500....:) one went on ebay last week for 8500...i'm just basing off of that.

I picked up a 20-100mm a couple weeks ago for $7500. Yeah, I thought it might have been a little pricey, but that's where the market took it. And while I wish I'd had the foresight to pick up a lens before I was expecting my camera (which was ultimately the reason I delayed buying a lens), thereby potentially saving a couple thousand dollars, I'm still not regretful about the purchase. It's a gorgeous lens, a good pairing with the camera, and it's still rentable (as evidenced on many camera house websites) for at least $150/day.

My thinking was that I could own a lens that I could shoot an entire feature on, and after working with it a little bit, I still feel that's every bit the truth. If you're on a tight budget, consider Nikon or other still lenses...but I think there's a certain element of respect (not exactly the word I'm looking for, but it's along those lines) that comes with sticking with a cine package, at least when it comes to renting out your kit for commercials, etc. I can't help but think that producers, ACs, DPs, etc. will look at you funny when you're running with a still lens set-up. That doesn't make it right, of course...we've all seen incredible footage shot with still lenses. I guess it just comes down to what people are accustomed to seeing and working with, and they'll likely be more willing to shell out for a package that strikes them as professional.

Bottom line, see if you can deal a little, get the lens for less if possible, but if it's in your budget and you want an incredible bit of glass to go with your camera, this is a good way to go.

Johnny, if Tony and others are offering the same lens in the same condition for less, consider lowering it if you really want to move it (make them an offer they can't refuse)...otherwise, hold onto it, keep shooting with it, and I'm sure a future Red owner will come along that will be happy to pay your asking price.

My 5 cents.
