  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Yawn...4K is SOooo passe...

If you'd seen the NHK technology demonstrations, you'd not be as excited.... Let's just say it has the look and feel of VHS at a very high resolution, and is not cinematic or pleasant to watch at all.

This makes me think of the wall-size displays in the movie Total Recall. This kind of resolution, once it reaches maturity, will allow us to shoot amazing, mind-boggling stuff.

yeah Graeme i remember you telling me about these guys at the RED User meeting at NAB. i didnt get a chance to see their booth but what you said there (echoed here as well) did not leave me confident in the technology.

That's exactly how I felt when I saw it 2 years ago at NAB. Sure there was a lot of resolution, but the latitude sucked and the feel was horrendous.

Yeah I saw their floor to ceiling projection at NAB last year as well and as impressive as that resolution was the dynamic range and color looked like cheap video.

This article does claim they have made advancements since then though...

I like to watch what they do every year because it reminds me that although high resolution is good, that the overall look of the image is more important.
