I don't have my Side Handle yet (Epic-X shipping this week!), but there appears to be an x-sync port on top of the Side Handle next to the Record Button in the illustrations I've seen; and yet it is not identified in the Operation Guide. I have a large array of Normon studio strobes I'd like to utilize. It was said a long time ago that there would be an x-sync (pc) port. From the threads I've been seeing, I can't tell if this is not supported yet, or if the intention now is that it will never be supported. Anyone know?

The X-sync will be enabled at some point but it will only support long duration flashes due to the rolling shutter.

DSMC, Digital Stills and Motion Camera, depends on continuous lighting. Shoot motion and extract stills. Strobes don't work for that.

have you considered covering synced short duration flashes within a long exposure? there's no rolling shutter there

Specs will be posted when we can.

What about the still mode that is to come.... does that mode also utilize a rolling shutter? I don't have a lot of knowledge when it comes to the tech behind the different types of image capture through the sensor. Doesn't the Canon DSLRs capture stills and video differently? Anyway put 1/500 sync on the Red DSMC wishlist.

As always, thanks Jim for being awesome and building the best motion cameras

Thread necromancy - I read that the x-sync port is active as of firmware 4.0. Has anyone gotten a flash operational and figured out what the impact of the rolling shutter will be on how you need to setup the camera and what limitations there may be on flash/strobe choice?
