  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

@ WWDC - Steve Jobs on Stage.

No MacPro no FCP, not a whisper. Not impressed.

Why would they announce FCP at a developer conference? iPhone makes sense, since a lot of the developers would be developing for that platform, but it would make no sense releasing a video suite...

When the new Final Cut drops, they'll probably host a special media event.

The next person that says something is a "game changer" gets banned. I kid you not.

Even a fool can guess that more is coming. Problem is if it's game changing or not. I'm hoping for something more this time. Sure the iPhone is great and I will get one, but I also want to edit with a 12 core (or more) Mac Pro, with 10 PCI e slots on FCP that runs 8 4K uncompressed streams bla bla

I want Steve to be announcing it, because that's when they think it's a game changer.

Fredrik, I hope you din't just call me a fool, that would not be a nice thing...;~)

You love us, right, Ketch?

Yes I do love you all guys, but my current bank account can't support iPhone for all Love ones I guess, so for now only some of my love ones will get the iPhone 4 ;~)

Indeed HTC Evo maybe better but it takes a company like Apple to make video calling "cool", I did video calls back when 3 use to bring the feature to the majority of their phones, it never caught on, now Apple bring this out, no doubt people will be using it...their marketing team will make sure of that!

Though let's think about this, they HAVE to go for the iPhone and Tablets now because that's a faster changing market then the Mac Pro or Macbook Pro market. We can deal with our current Mac Pro's right now can't we? It's not like we are all going to suddenly switch, on the other hand, with Google being fast at development and so forth, Apple clearly need to take big strides in order to lock them out for a while longer.

They are a big company but I don't think it'd be wise of them to jump all over the place, best to pick their battles, hold that front then move a few men to the other front.

I'm pretty sure Steve has his own interests in Mac Pro's being involved with Pixar etc. to some extent, so lets be real about this, the next Mac Pro update as well as the top line screen update will be EPIC, perhaps multi touch for the first time on such a large display that works well with the OS?

I got a feeling they will take longer with the next OS just to allow for a multitouch capable system that doesn't feel slightly annoying when using it.

But Apple are pretty good about only giving us features that actually work. I remember those 3 phones and you really couldn't call what they were doing video calls!

Having it wi-fi only will annoy a lot of people, but the mass frustration of trying to maintain it over 3G in any real way just isn't realistic.

But one of the other companies will do it, just to say they did.

I will stick with Apple because I have faith that the features they include will be as robust as possible.

Everything else is just a blame game because no one entity is taking responsibility.

Hahahaha maybe, maybe not....LOL. No, of course not, its just that we all know that there is a Mac Pro in the pipeline.

I think iPhone is brilliant and the new one is a must, but I sooooo wished for some announcements that I wouldn't expect.

He says you need 300 pixels per inch. So, HD is good for a display 6.5" wide. More relevant for the "Will we ever need more than 1080p?" to be honest, but perhaps someone could calculate what kind of resolution is required for the big screen.

iPhone 4 looks good, but of course, as always, Apple are masters at the show business. The original iPhones had pretty poor resolutions, so its a step in the right direction.

Pretty funny, the iPhone 4's Wi-fi is broken!

Jobs' 300 ppi figure is based off a certain viewing distance (10-12") that is about the near limit of how close we tend to use a phone's screen. Just as you don't need the same resolution in a print if it's going to be on a billboard or poster viewed from 10+ feet away versus a 4x6 you're passing around.

That said, higher density displays are undoubtedly going to be the future. If we're getting halfway to HD on our phones, for crying out loud, 1080P can't be the limit.

I've been told that there is a new Mac Pro and a totally new FCP in the pipeline for 2 years now, getting a bit tired of it.

Ha ha, cool, I guess, not sure, ha ha.

Yes we sure need a new Mac Pro and a 27" LED Cinema Display to go with, off course the FCP long awaited news is also awaited, if not I really will make the jump once and for all to Adobe!!

You are truly too sweet of a guy to count me as one of the "some"...

He he ;~)

haha, so is that for ANYTHING in future? Cause I'm pretty sure when the new cameras get into peoples hands thats going to be a lot of bans

Did he say it was "like 300ppi", or it "is 300ppi"?

Pixels Per Inch is an actual measurement, not percieved.

the new dilsplay technology is changing everything!!!
4K close so real ( no rumor ever found that out - ha )
perfect strategy
even nobody is checking at the press that the processors from apple are just starting
( iPhone the best testing environment )
love the straight energy behind apple

While i love my iphone, I don't edit on it. I can't build a Resolve system around it. I cant build new edit bays with it. So in essence I don't really care about it at the moment.

I'm not asking Apple to start shipping a new Mac Pro tomorrow, but gimme a timeline at least. A tentative date.

Apple user suffer from "stockholm syndrom"...

The irony of seeing that on this forum

(I feel I'm allowed to laugh given that I'm 'sympathizing' with both Apple and Red pretty heavily)
