There was a brief attack late last night by the chief on the VDSLR cameras and section. When the fires went out the only casualty was the "other cameras" section. And for good reason, this is REDUSER not CANON OR NIKON USER!

Makes sense to me. Most of that discussion had no place here. I realize most participants in that forum are just trying to pass the time between now and Scarlet or other new cameras, but this is still RED's community.

I dunno- I'm hoping it's only temporary. People are going to talk about market alternatives and compare/contrast. Squelching that discussion will only make it happen someplace else.

I don't mind the section being gone. whats what DVXuser is for.

But if its because that section got more traffic than others on this forum, well, we'd talk more about Scarlet/Epic if there was more to talk about. Discussions on theoretical features and specifications on as-yet-nonexistant-cameras only go so far.

(I can't wait for them to come out so pardon if that sounded pissy lol)

Or maybe, just maybe RED don´t want people discussing a cheap and working alternative to the upcoming scarlet...

mmmm...I don't think RED is feeling too threatened by the offerings of its current competitors. In fact, I think they are looking forward to the day where they are going to be challenged. As it stands, they are making a better product at the best price point and listen to what the market wants and needs. This is a PROFESSIONAL cinema camera company, dedicated to making the best quality images at the most reasonable prices. Seriously, how long have the 5D guys been waiting for 24p? And H.264 is a post nightmare. I guess what I really don't get though is if anyone here misses the VDSLR discussion threads, why not just go somewhere that you can discuss them with supporters?
Again, this is REDUSER:closed2ur0:!

If you define "cheap and working" as being able to buy an electric scooter now vs. a Ducati at some point later this year, then touche'.

Point is, if the current VDSLRs fit your needs, then great! Have fun with them. But discuss them in the proper venues. Do we all go onto Canon's community forums and discuss all our RED projects?
