  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

WTB set of 5 Canon K35

I have to say sorry to tony covell i was offerd a lens set which is not true k35s moviecams is what i was offerd stiil very good ive been told but my offer was way to low for true k35s.

This makes sense. FD lenses are a far cheaper and completely different thing than K35's. I have a few FD's, they are nice, but I wouldn't shoot anything I really wanted to look great on them.

It seem like these lenses really have been re-discovered the last couple of years. I had a very nice set I never should have sold. It now goes for the double of what I payed...
What I didn´t like about them was the short focus scale. Otherwise beautiful.

Question: If Moviecam lenses are made from canon FD, how is that possible when canon never made a 17mm T2 and a 40mm T2?

Last, we went 2010 to Panavison UK with our Movielens set 18-180mm and they adviced us to True lens service, they had a look at them and where told that all are possible to convert to Pl. Maybe there are some prototype sets out there :)
However, we also have a K35 set and we shoot with both sets excessively. Had them on the beginnig on the optical bench and realised that that the K35 are visible more "breathing" than the Movielens 2.0. The image characteristic is the same, of course the K35 are a bit soft wide open, but with the red one we somertimes need the extra stop, with the Epic it might be different ( 800ASA ). At the end we stayed with an universal mount from visual products for our Red and we are still happy about it...please no offers - we will never sell our set.
Ken Rich is selling a set right now if someone is interested.

You say your Canons are a bit soft wide open? Have you checked the back focal distance of your mounts to the Film plane? Collimation or Abeltech NULL lens test tool.
I only ask becos 35mm lenses are set accurately to exacting standards especially BNCR Lenses. You only need to be 0.001" Gnats cock; out and soft pics will result. In this day of plug and play most people dont know or bother about this fact and it is important for everybody.
This is the biggest problem I encounter with soft pics and wrong scales. Also note that Cine lenses dont work like Video lenses on setting back focus.
Not preaching just trying to be helpful.
