Hi!

I am looking for a reasonably-priced Canon K35 macro zoom 25-120mm. Preferably in PL mount.
It usually comes with a 2X extender and sometimes an anamorphic back adapter - those would be great, if you have them.

The lens must of course be in good shape.

Thank you! Please PM me here or e-mail me at medavoym@yahoo.com

Thank you!

Hi!

The lens that Visual Products has is priced at probably 4 times its market value!

I can't understand the huge prices Visual Products are asking for almost everything they have. Don't get me wrong, the items are probably in excellent shape and I'm sure the service is great, but everything is so, so crazily overpriced.

Well the price of lenses across the board are ridiculously priced. Market demand raises the value unfortunately.

As for the Canon I may be able to help you. The other issue is PL mount. They were made with a BNC mount as the original and not always sent with 2 x or anamorphic adapters. I will come back shortly.

Actually I think they have fairly reasonable prices for fully serviced lenses with a warranty. Not Ebay prices for sure, but if you figure in the typical cost of cleaning, repairs and collimation plus the assurance that you are not getting worn out junk, they are not that bad.

Old Zoom value.

Old Zoom value.

I would avoid old zoom lenses alltogether. While the old primes offer decent performance and value the old zooms are generally horrible performers. 30 years ago the zoom technology was much further behind the primes than today.
From what I've seen the old K35zoom is no exception. Much worse than, for example a 20-100 Cooke. Washed out image similar to old Angies pre HP

Dear Jacek,

Do you know if the Canon K35 zoom covers full frame, like the primes?

Hmmm... I never heard that the K35 zoom has a washed out image... I heard that it matches the K35 reasonably well.

Thanks!

I don't know it very well-just from what I remember. Make sure you check it carefully before you commit. I just know that zooms from that period, in general, by today standards are pretty bad-not the same as primes. I think that your money is better invested in the RED Zoom. Just an opinion.
The best investment, IMO short of the amazing $60K 17-80 Angie and the illusive new Fuji 18-85 ($70k?)
Would be a Cooke 18-100 "Classic" edition. The latest iteration of it. If you can find one that hasn't been dropped or abused in your price range it will work great with the warm tint similar to the K35 primes.

OK it seems the general consensus is that newer zooms are much better then the old Canon K35... I might look for a Cooke 20-100 instead (the 18-100 is way out of my budget).

Since I have the K35 primes, I was thinking to get a zoom that matches them.

Does anyone know if at least the Canon zoom covers full frame, like the primes?

Thanks!

20-100 cooke

20-100 cooke

Watch out for abused ones. The ones I've seen lately have been pretty beat. The replacement parts are outrageusly expensive. And when the lens is dropped and these cast zoom carriages get tweaked good luck fixing the image...:frown2:
