WTB: Canon EF 1200mm f/5.6 L USM

[Patrick Grossien]

Thanks Patrick,

much appreciated your assistance provided, it was not an easy one to find, I literally contacted all my sources at a Global scale,
then it was found right on my Ex back yard in LA he he, probably it was Jim's...

Hehe great...maybe Jim still knows the serial no funny how it goes sometimes. Travel round the world and "back home" you find it....

I am just picturing the look on the faces of security scanning staff when you try and take this as carry on! Ludicrous idea to even consider I know!

And you think the owner of this would fly on a commercial airliner?

And you think the owner of this would fly on a commercial airliner?

Hehe. Maybe he has to because he had to sell his private jet to get the lens. Hehe

[Patrick Grossien]

Have you been shooting with the 1200 yet?

[Ketch Rossi]

I had few years back, and insane lens, and not an easy one to track focus with either, but then shooting Birds is an art in it self, not my thing really, but I still enjoyed.

This 1200mm is getting to his new home today, about to be picked up...

Yes absolutely, it wasn't even remotely a serious suggestion!! I don't think this lens would even fit inside the x-ray machine!

Some day I would love to shoot birds with one. I currently use the 500mm with extenders for that, which is quite manageable. However I would have thought the new 800 with the 1.4XIII extender would be not too shoddy a solution for nearly the same focal length, and definitely more of a budget option, but I am guessing your client wants the very best at that focal length!!!

Ketch, Leaving in a few for the rendezvous with the 1200mm......

Should be exciting...

Having a rendezvous with such a baby is always exiting isn't?

Edit...

Then again, having a rendezvous with the Basilian babies I'm about to have near RIO, is also sweet...

Wow what a beast of a lens.

Beautiful but 37 pounds. And what a famous history to the lens.

But I'd trade the lens for the ipanema model shoot

There will be no beaches... The movie will be shot in Rome...
