Why not get them from amazon in standard Nikon Mount , just put focus and zoom gears on, and get the Nikon Prolock for Epic?
Same positive locking, iris control with gear off the mount.
Also when we go smart mount update or Red starts shipping their (Nikon) mount you won't have to purchase lenses again. your VR stabilisation will be activated and, at least with our mount and controller you'll have full turn of the focus knob for follow focus so the short focus range on the ring won't matter. You can't do that with PL converted lenses...

Thanks OPTITEK ? (thats can't be your real name)

I'm heavy with PL glass... lots of it... and don't want to be swapping camera mounts for the sake of a single lens... So this PL mounted light weight ZOOM will do me just fine. :).
I'm making up a light weight PL EPIC kit... Combo of Super speeds and small ZOOMs...

Oh and I have a full set of canon L glass too... right up to 600F4... With its only CANON mounted EPIC. Just for my personal use. But I hate the manual focusing on the Canon lenses... just sucks, but the glass is good.

The last think I need is another mount... 2 are heaps. But PL is the most solid and most simple to work with IMHO..... .

Duclos 80-200 isnt out yet...11-16 backordered...Mark your on target 11mm through 200mm with a 1.4ext and its farly sorted

Hey Sergio - Duclos is converting a 70-200 as a full cine conversion gonna sell north of $10k - I've seen it and it should be awesome..I'll buy one of the first ones. The Picture Mark posted is a conversion that Duclos did in small quantities of a 80-200- High performance, but uses the Nikon mechanics and focuses in the non cine direction not really "full Cine" but makes good pictures. They were selling for around $4k I think.

Tom Lowe had one of the Duclos 80-200's for sale a while back. But I'm sure he sold it. I'm anxiously awaiting the 70-200 conversions like Matt. Last I asked, the price was supposed to be $9500, but that was back when Matt Duclos was starting to work on the conversion. It may be over $10K now..

As for the 11-16 conversion, it's excellent. So much better than just putting gears on a Nikon or Canon mount version, even if you were to de-click the iris. One of my favorite lenses in my kit, you can have it when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers. ...OK, not that drastic, but close. I'll sell it for $10K and I still get to borrow it for free when I need it. Even if you have to FedEx it to me half a world away. ...Gotta love owning cool toys that are always back-ordered. hahahaa.. ;)

Hey mark-
I have 2 11-16s and the 80-200. They are tasty for the right application. The 80-200 focuses backwards but a ff reverse gear can sort that. I have 7 or 8 canon lenses and i love the canon mount but sometimes your on the pl mount for technical or glamour and the pair of dukes will get you out of a lot of long or wide jams- especially handheld. Matts work is pretty baller. Fyi i paid well north of retail for all of them cause of some unfortunate events at duclos created short supply. I might part with the second wide when my 45-120 comes in, hopefully sometime soon....

Mark,

When you say you hate manual focus with the Canons, you mean with a follow focus ?

Pay thousands dollars for PL mount , iris and gears ring....you guys crazy. Most of digital camera can change the mount...
Please remember those are still camera lenses, and Nikon 80-200 can`t hold focus through zoom....

Just an FYI... While Duclos has a Nikon 80-200 available in their rental inventory, this is not the lens they are developing their conversion on. It is the 70-200 which is altogether a different lens.

All the Best!

I have an 11-16 I am willing to part with. Actually Duclos just called my number on that. PM ME.

As for the 80-200, problem with the lens is that the focus throw is short. I mean real short. Very hard to hit focus on anything, and the reverse focus gets me almost every time, even if I'm constantly thinking in my head, "it's backwards."

Never worried me for the last 18 years.... why should it worry me now. :)

Plus I have shit loads of PL glass anyway... Im just looking for some light weight long lenses to satisfy my light weight kits.
This lens will do the trick perfectly.

And when Duclos finally bring out that lens, then I will purchase that two... We all know that Duclos are alot slower than RED in bringing out or supply new gear.

Hi Matthew...
PM on the 11-16.

Also, Im not worried about the 80-200 short / backwards focus problem.... The lens is cheap enough for me not to worry about it.
When Duclos bring out the proper version, Then I'll update to that one then.
I have heaps of PL glass, including long ZOOMS... but they are just bloody heavy to do hand held or mono pod work with. And finding light weight long ZOOMs in PL at the moment is almost impossible especially when they don't really exist yet. Unless you want to BLOW 22k+ on the Ziess Compact.
I'm over paying that sort of money for a single lens. When optically I'm getting nothing extra for the price. I don't believe that I should pay another $17,000 just for a longer focus ring...
My $2000 dollar Canon 70-200 is one of my sharpest lenses... as sharp as RED and Master primes...

I just want Duclos and RED to bring out a compact long ZOOM... So I don't have to use these stills ZOOMs for much longer. :)

Anyway, ping me a message regarding the 11-16. Im in.

Cheers...
