Hi Guys, I am desperatly seeking the above lens.
CANON 50mm T1.3 in any mount. I will pay top dollar especially if the rear glass is perfect.
I will also consider any other K35 Series lens you may wish to sell. Check your memories please, Somebody has a badly damaged 50 with a good rear element.

Tony,
There is no 50mm K-35 that I know of. you may be mistaken and not get what you need. The usual fl is 55mm. On the other hand it may not be a K-35...

Hey Jacek, I thought I knew all about K35 BUT No the 50mm is part of a set and they are all definately canon k35. They are NOT rebuilds. I have 18 24 35 [50] 85 in the set.
I conclude that they are the last series of K35 and Canon must have finally responded to all our requests of the time 25+ years ago, for a 50mm T1.3. If it was a rebuild It would not have the characteristic back element cover to clear an Arri shutter and this does. Also I would be able to find a FD SLR lens and make it work as a repair and they do not, Ive tried.
Also the lens is bigger and longer than a 55mm T1.3. This has caught me out bigtime and I am trying to locate info from Canon on this phenomenon.
Thanks for the imput and bare it in mind it is strange. And as I say it has caught me out.
Regards
Tony Covell.

It's not for sale but mine is also a 50mm k-35, so they do exist

Pleased to hear from you confirming that they do exist. They are all late series and not so many around. They are slightly longer and the scale paint job is different.
I am unable to find any mention of these lenses on any Canon site. However; I found another today on a rental website and it is like our a 50 t1.3. They do not wish to sell either.
Do all your other lenses match as mine do? or is it just an odd one out?
Cheers

element swapping

element swapping

You mention the condition of the rear element, I hope you are not planning on swapping elements.

Some lens sellers do get two lenses that have damaged front and rear elements and swap elements to try to make one "good" lens, but elements used in ultra speed lenses may not be interchangeable as the tolerances can be far too high for that.

Rather the lens elements may be gauged and made into sets that sometimes with re-work can produce ONE usable lens.

Its always a risk in purchasing fast lenses that someone may have taken the lens apart to work on the iris or something like cleaning fungus out and not have rotated the elements back to the right angles when it was re-assembled, so you get a lesser if not altogether soft lens.

Its best to NEVER open a fast lens for cleaning after it leaves factory inspection unless its useless otherwise. And then to have it worked on by someone that understands that it will take several days of testing and work to adjust the ring pressure, centering and rotation of the elements to get close to the original factor resolution when put back together. Any movement of the inf focus on re-assembly shows that something was not done right. If you re-adjust the inf focus then the center to corner focus may changed.

Super speed lenses may cost more in part because many of the elements made are unusable even with re-work, so only some end up in production lenses that are sold. And after all that, there will be some variance in center resolution and corner resolution between individual lenses. Changing elements at random just adds to the chaos of quality in purchasing used lenses.

Dan I have opened and cleaned thousands of lenses over my 25 years in the industry. Yes one has to be careful and know their job. But please......

My set of K35 PLs has a 50mm 1.3 and I have borrowed a set of K35 BNCRs that also had the 50mm 1.3. The only 55mm K35 I have seen was from a set of 4 K35s that had been converted to macro and were as stiff as anything! I bought mine from a kind gentleman in Japan after failing to persuade other owners here in the South West to part with theirs - had any luck?

This thread piqued my interest. Haven't used my K35's in awhile. Purchased 25 years ago. My "50" is a 55mm T1.4 Canon Lens K-35 #80010. Part of a 4 lens set 24mm 35mm 55mm 85mm.

Dear Dan,
I have been in the business of equipment and lenses all my life [40 years] and worked both then and now with some of the best film and optical engineers in the business throughout the world.
You are assuming WE do not know what we are doing and that what you say is absolute fact.
I am afraid you are beginning yet another " Forum Myth" which just is not true in any respect if the lens is handled by those who have the optical workshop facilities.
All optical houses work on lenses daily and return to owners after terrible disasters have been corrected successfully. We do have optical test equipment and the ability to test lenses
both on film and on video/sensor cameras after any event.
NUFF SAID !!
I will not be drawn further into this thread as it will definatly end in tears.
Kindest Tony Covell.

You are correct and the 55 is the norm, however I have now discovered many other 50mm K35 lenses. They are canon and not rebuilds from FD range.
Cheers Tony Covell.

I never know that there was 50mm K35 in the set. Any chance you share the photos of this lens please? Thanks

I give 90% that's a conversion. Looks like Cinevision with the scalloped "plumbing fixture" iris ring. Definitely not a K35 designers look....

Thanks to Kobe for pix. Mine are temporarily missing among many others.
Well Jacek, if you are correct please tell me what they converted from becos I have now had all the prospective FD & EF through my hands and none are the same. Also all the engraved wording and colours are exactly the same as Canon and the numbers run in the same way as Canon. Also the interior scrolls are Canon. Now I know very well the Moviecam range of conversions and these were done in largish numbers before Canon arrived on the market. The 50mm T1.3 is just not of the same converted Moviecam type. Mostly they also have Moviecam engraved upon them.
I would love you to be correct as I could find a match but I am afraid I have to say I think you are mistaken on this one, especially as the cone rear cover is identical. No other lens has that especially converted lenses.
BTW I also know the Cinevision lenses done by Chevreu and Chrosiki from the Ultracam stable and this is not the same atall. Mostly they looked like the Cinema Product sales types.
I was a Moviecam Agent and ran my own rental facilities in the UK for close to 30 years I know my lenses pretty well when they are Canon.
Cheers Tony Covell. London.

I've never seen a canon K35 with this font or color.
They are either plain and orange or white and orange filled letters.
I'm not 100% certain but I've seen many conversions and made many myself. This just looks like typical full out cine conversion.
It doesn't necessarily have to be Cinevision-just looks like it. Maybe they damaged the 55 and tried to fill the void like you are now....
I couldn't tell you what was the core- I'm no Canon expert. My legacy is almost exclusively with cine lenses....
