  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

WOW !!!!!! were did this come from !

Definitely excited to see it. However...

Worried it may suffer some of the same problems as 'The Fountain' - which I loved, by the way - I loved it for its concept (and of course it is beautiful), but it didn't come together naturally. Still, conveying non-linear time in an absolutely linear format should be commended simply on effort. Let's see what they got.

I think film failures that aim high are much more interesting than commercially successful movies that aim low. "The Fountain" in some ways was a failure but a really enjoyable one.

Hey Paul,

You're probably right, it will likely be difficult to watch for many but I am so glad that artists can still make these the way they should be. The way independent funding has exploded in the last few years is amazing.

to me it looks like creative minds trying to make something visually interesting, but still trying to have a artistic and compelling story at the same time. it's a hard feat cause it's easy to go overboard with all the glamour and glitz of making it look as good as possible and losing track of the story. but I think the power house casting is gonna be a big force in the success of this film. I feel like the collaboration in the directing was for the Wachowski's to create the visual story and Tom Tykwer takes care of the physical story with talent and so on.

either way, it's not a sequel, prequel, or reboot like 90% of the other movies that have been releasing lately. I'm stoked for anything like that these days.

WTF? This is an Hollywood film like any other...

But they speak as if it would be an independant feature film...

Is this the new way of modern marketing?

Pat

Apparently it was shot on good ol' 35mm, according to IMDB. Looks good as it supposed to.

The trailer looks amazing! For me, the special thing about the movie is that it's produced by two German studios. With a budget of $140 million, the 'Cloud Atlas' will be the first German blockbuster ever. Therefore, one can only hope for the financial success of 'Clout Atlas' and that it will revive our film industry, resulting in projects with a similar scope.

sorry to bear the news but it was 35mm arricam LT and a Phantom.

Once again... I don't care what its shot on.. The trailer looks fantastic. When you down load the HD quicktime, you can quickly see the softness and blur of film... but doesn't really matter to me. Content is king for me... not sharpness.

it's the point that it's a hollywood movie, that looks like it might actually have an interesting story to it. i don't consider it a bad thing for it to have hollywood effects and looks, as long as the story is good. we've been so caught up in so many remakes or sequels as of late. and though it's based off a book, it's good to see that you can still have something that can feel like a breathe of fresh air. there's been so little that's been compelling coming out of hollywood, and it doesn't seem like this book is a huge franchise either like harry potter or hunger games.

and i loved run lola run and the perfume, and wachowski's are hit or miss in my book, but they are REALLY good at making really fun and exciting visuals. i'm more intrigued now than ever to see what their collaboration as produced.
