  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Would a trade-in option make sense?

So for those who are looking to get the Komodo as a replacement for their current Red camera and not a complimentary camera, would a trade-in option be possible and in what way would such a thing work. Previously it's always been a trade-in adding a cost to upgrade, but this is more of a "downgrade" technically. Let's say that you have another Red camera and the value of it is around $12000 - $13000. Is it possible to like "sell back" the previous Red for $6000 and also get a Komodo?

Is this even possible when it's technically a value downgrade?

Interesting perspective.
For anyone new to the topic, consider that any DSMC or DSMC2 accessories will probably not work with the Komodo, unless it's something that mounts via rods and connects via SDI.

So in the event that RED takes back the DSMC2 Brain, you will be left with unusable peripherals.

While I like the option of a downgrade, maybe selling the existing package as a whole is a better option.

Jarred already said no to trade ins for Komodo.

Which makes perfect sense really, Komodo it's just too small of a price point.

I remember that. Just couldn’t find the post to link it.
