  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

worst media disaster ever?

I was listening to some experts talk about this the other night, and it is starting to make me wonder if it was all a fake after all. Neil Armstrong saying he didn't see stars. Another astronaut says he can't remember the feeling he had when he walked on the moon, and of course some of the lighting discrepancies that have been called into question. Would be a major blow to American history if this was ever proven to be a studio shoot.

In my heart, I don't want to believe they faked it. But when you hear one of the designers of the cameras used talking about how shocked they were that the film didn't show the kind of fogging and contamination they were expecting given the conditions, it makes you wonder.

I was just kidding Steve, I'm pretty sure we landed on the moon. Let's put it this way, when you really landed on the moon you can punch the guys who say you didn't in the face and a judge will tell them they had it coming:

I accidentally formatted a Red drive once in the very early days. I was able to recover all the data, after I recovered from the heart attack.

I took a bus home with the notebook that contained all the footage offloaded from the HVX, no other backups, I could just get robbed and half of the movie would be thrown away.

I'd chuckle.

This isn't a 'data' story, but I remember when I was a loader on my first low-budget feature I taped up the rushes into a stack of film tins (7 or 8 cans) and gave it to the runner who delivered to the labs. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed just too late how crammed his hatchback was with all sorts of crap, just as he squashed the rushes on top of all the crap and slammed the boot shut, piercing one of the tins with a large hole and denting some of the others. Somehow the black bag inside saved the roll and there wasn't even any sparkle on the rushes...a minor miracle :aureola:

Wow, Buzz has quite a right hand. I'd like to see that episode of Mythbusters. Let's face it, we live in a skeptical world these days, and the government is as guilty as anyone in causing that skepticism. What sucks is if you're the astronauts, and you risked your life doing the mission and then people tell you it never happened. I suppose they know the truth, we can either choose to believe or not.

Thanks for that link, it was worth checking out.

Not a data story, but on my first gig -ever- I took a Beta SP for some under water shooting.... without a under water house...
