Thanks to RED, the line between still photography and videography has been OBLITERATED.

Looks great Tonaci! Congrats! I like the color grade. Wish there was a way to view this in 4K :-) The rolling shutter artifacts are a little troubling, however. Was this just when you shot high speed or were the rolling camera flashes and fluorescent flickers present when shooting 24 fps? Maybe the sensor's read/reset time hasn't been fully cranked up yet?

Thanks so much for the R3D's to play with :-)

Looks like you had more fun than the bride and groom. Good stuff. Thanks fpr chiming in.

Wow. Nice job.

And then a girl speaks... :rolleyes5:

It looks AWESOME, Tonaci ;)

I'm really impressed with how the camera performed in low light. But most of all, really nice photography and editing. ;))

Really nice wedding gift.

PS: Wedding in 3D coming soon? ehehehhe Kidding ;)

Thanks everyone for the kind words! =)

@Joseph .. yes we will be asking our clients to approve the dailies in our 4k viewing theater before we proceed with a 4kdcp of their wedding video. =)
@May .. we do have an Atom available ..just waiting for a client to make the leap. hehe

Really beautiful work Tonaci. I've only done three weddings in 30 years in the business. Two for close friends and one for big bucks. You have just raised the bar considerably. Gorgeous.

Thanks everyone the amazingly kind words! yeah, shooting weddings is an entirely different experience from shooting feature films. It is really challenging. You only have one chance to get the key moments and you don't have much control over the lighting conditions hehe.
I look forward to shooting more weddings on Epic in between projects. We can't wait to shoot the next one! =)

Tonaci, your work is very, very beautiful. I have several questions regarding using Epic footage for pulling out still:

1) How do you cope with vertical format stills, you just lose the sides I suppose, but does the resolution hold for prints? What is your compression rate?
2) Regarding flash photography look: don't the brides also demand for images that pop out, you know like cover style? You are very good with natural light but the clients sometimes ask for that "other" look.
3) Media: how much can you actually download during a wedding? I was thinking that at least a couple of terabytes are needed if using 120 fps at 7:1 (for stills)

I know this are secret s of the trade in a way but I hope you can answer me some!

There are a couple ways to approach vertical format stills. One is to shoot vertical! For fashion runway and in-store displays, I noticed these are being shot vertically.
Red has this in the works:

The second approach is like you said, through cropping.
Here is an example of print quality from a Red One still: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?48566-COACH...&p=639290&viewfull=1#post639290

I shoot anywhere from 5:1 to 12:1 depending on if I am shooting high speed 120fps. 5:1 is the sweet spot but 8:1 is nice as well. I think it depends on your "storage budget." =)

2) Regarding flash photography look: don't the brides also demand for images that pop out, you know like cover style? You are very good with natural light but the clients sometimes ask for that "other" look.

For the next shoot, I plan on using some portable LEDS with diffusion. This will primarily help in the situations where 1) we have time to place the lights and 2) it is appropriate to place lights. During the ceremony, however, you will have to pretty much deal with natural light depending on where it is. For example, you generally won't be setting up lights in a church. If you have fast lenses though, you can still get amazing shots.

3) Media: how much can you actually download during a wedding? I was thinking that at least a couple of terabytes are needed if using 120 fps at 7:1 (for stills)
be prepared to shoot between 1-2 terabytes depending on how much high speed shooting you do.

I know this are secret s of the trade in a way but I hope you can answer me some!
hehe, no secrets here! we are all learning.

Excellent! Great work as usual, Tonaci!
