At the FCPUG meeting last spring at during NAB, I watched an interesting presentation by Tim Dashwood called the How to create the world's fastest music video - from shoot to edit.

You can see it here
http://www.macvideo.tv/camera-technology/features/index.cfm?articleid=102467

Briefly it explains how to use LTC timecode on channel 2 audio from an ipod, to sync up multiple takes, shot from the same camera.

My question is ...How do you input LTC TC from channel 2 into Red?
Will it require the Lemo input? Adapters?
Any menu changes?

I have a music video shoot scheduled for next weekend.
This would save considerable time in post if I can pull it off.

Thanks for any help.

Make sure your Jam SYnc on the Camera is checked, It will show you a Lock in the Middle-Top to show its jammed

But He is right, I did the same thing on a Music recently. We just showed the Video Clip onthe ipod with TC to the Camera instead of a using Smart Slate.

BUT, you have to send an output so the Artist can hear the same thing. So that part is up to you...

I have already put the music on track one and LTC audio one two. Monitoring the music is not a problem. Just took channel one audio out to a Peavey. I just haven't been able to get the TC to the Red.

I will check on the Jam Sync. If I understand you, this can be done without somehow connecting to the Lemo timecode input?

Wow !
thats really cool !
thnx

Those were my words when I saw this presentation.

The idea of shooting up to 16 takes with the same camera and be able to sync them instantly and kick out a rough cut in real time is amazing.

I will try the Jam Sync idea 1st chance I have.

Insane!

@Videodisc
Would you mind to explain to me how you created the LTC audio timecode?
In the camera like him?
Is there a way to generate it via software?
Do I assume right, that the timecode must be generated in the exact framerate one is shooting?

Thanks!

I took the Time code out from my UVW-1800 (BNC) and fed it into the channel two audio. recorded to beta SP, Digitized to FCP, overwrote the music to track one and output to ipod format.

I am not sure if it can be generated via software. I also assumed that the frame rate would have to match.
