  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Worlds 1st EPIC-M #008 underwater footage from "Extinction"

I'll lug the tanks

I'll lug the tanks

Looking forward to revisiting those cenotes with the Epic !

Looks amazing. Great job, Clay!

Thank you, I have a few people asking me if this will be on the RED reel at NAB and I thats up to RED but by all means I would be glad to send along the R3Ds, just let me know who and consider it done. Seeing this footy in 4k would be dreamy.
Cheers

Clay

@ Clay
1- how difficult was it to keep a shot steady while simply breathing in and out.
2- How hard was holding the housing still.

Hey Kwan, I found the housing surprisingly easy to operate and very balanced. The unit was pretty neutrally buoyant and of course you could shave or add to that weight depending on how you like to operate. The steadiness of the shots are generally not affected by my breathing, buoyancy is key...the ocean is your steady cam. I found the size very manageable and compact. Mark Weston (600 AC) is going to upload a BTS this weekend of the water shoot so stand by.

Hey Mark, Welcome to the forum and look forward to seeing your behind the scenes video. I think you had more fun then anyone else in the crew with that go pro under water action. Thanks again for all your hard work on the fim and continued support. FYI Mark weston is a top union AC and brooklyn based filmmaker imported from New Zealand. Keep an eye on this cat. Posting from 40 thousand feet....Virgin, west bound to NAB. See ya there!

Glorious, Haskell!
Is that your own scuba diving gear?

The light makes everything so beautifully surreal, almost like an underwater cave...
More?

Thanks folks! Had a great day on the floor at the RED booth, really nice seeing familiar faces and meeting some of you for the 1st time. I will be sharing more R3Ds of the underwater project and cooking up another shoot soon. Heading back there now.

Hey everyone.

Here is a behind the scenes video I made for the epic going under water for the first time.

It is always such a pleasure to work with Clay and Summer. I had so much fun making this video as you will see.

Enjoy!

Mark Weston

Wish you were all there! It was a tremendous hit. Thinking of doing a private screening in London. And maybe a small private gathering in SF. Time and resource-depending. Would put the link to the video, but we're still finishing up some editing. :)

Thanks Summer and Clayton,

it looks to me that was a pure art event about an extraordinary experimental short movie.
