  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

World Cup Pitch shot on RED

Great stuff, love the part with the PM,
I'm curious though, these shots don't seem to fit :(, he's looking left and then right after the cut... and is the kangaroo added in post?

oh well, I guess thats what happens when you've just spent the last week analysing a film for a school assignment.

Once again, Great Work!

Silly, he's looking about and the only "person" there is a roo, so he kicks it away. That roo would have OWNED him, one on one.

A great spot. Is everyone in Australia required to be able to do a helicopter kick? Really an impressive ad, should do the trick for the bid.

In today's ad market this type of spot gives me hope.

Congrats!!! F-ing Stunning!!!! Really well done!!!!

Please post some production notes and BTS stills.

Cheers,
Prio

Thanks guys.
Very nice comments indeed. I'm glad you like it.
The shoot was long and testing about 20 days with lots of flights. But lucky for me the Ad agency creative team were great. They gave me lots of space to me creative. They weren't breathing down my neck choosing angles. Very supportive. Very proffesional and this is why the ad works.
To answer some questions. Build 18 on the camera. Most of the images were shot on the Red 50-150 & 18-50 mm. @2.8. That little lens is wonderful. Got me stumped why so many people bag it. All the interiors and night scenes were shoot with small ziess super speeds at 1.3 to 1.8. I love short depth of feild. I will be very keen to get the FF35 epic's when they are released. We cut in FCP just using the proxies. Very simple process. Export EDL to baselight. Graded directly from the R3D's with fantastic results. Finished the ad in 2K ready for cinema etc..
To be really honest. We could not have shot this job on film. We would have gone over time by 7 days and we estimated to have saved 120k in film stock, processing and one light dailies. The clients were were very much film lovers. Not now. Proof is in the pudding I'd have to say.

Aaaand Yes the Prime minister stars for 2 seconds in the Ad. He is a big supporter and the Socceroos were all nice guys too.

Thanks again guys. Happy shootin

Such a great spot. Really, really well done. I need to get off of my ass and get cracking. Thanks for the inspiration!

WOW.

I'm very homesick now.

and those kids at Parliament house were from my school!!! Radford College! Go Radford!

Very fun video! Well done.

very awesome! I've watched it a few times, and it just gets me more and more excited for some good matches! I hope you guys get the bid! If you do i will have to request time off many years in advance to get down there!

That was incredible! Some of the kicks reminded me of Shaolin Soccer. I loved it!!

Outstanding!!! Great staging, filming, editing, grading and overall quality. The most amazing thing is that it was mostly shot on the 18-50 and 50-150 RED "regular" lenses, Jim should be very proud of that spot. In fact, I foresee a lot of the footage from this appearing in the 2010 NAB RED reel.

Good work all around!

Some of the best shots I've seen on the Red and the edit is outstanding. Great work!

Nick.
