After a couple of threads of despair for the lack of a good working and reliable PC only workflow with avid I can present one that does.
After some collaboration with Michael Phillips and Jörgen (rebusfilm) I managed to have a R3D - EDIT- DPX output workflow within my laptop PC.
What is needed is the newest version of filmscribe (version 3.0.6), avid, redcine, metacheater and rebusfilm's program cineXML.
This is the workflow in detail:
1. Export footage from Redcine (name should be #C and output DNxHD)
2. Import into metacheater and create an ALE of choice (don't forget to add the r3d filename to each clip in the ALE)
3. Import ALE in Avid and batch import the files.
4. Import sound and autosync them with video footage.
5. EDIT
6. Export an XML list through filmscribe 3.06.
7. Import the XML into CineXML and create a Redcine XML
8. Import Redcine XML into Redcine and render out DPX in resolution of choice.
9. Import DPX in online station together with exported EDL from your offline timeline.
I'm about to go in as an editor on a feature film with this workflow and so far this seems to be the easiest PC only workflow yet.
I recommend it...
