I am trying to setup a workflow from shoot to delivering the final product based on Final Cut.
So we shoot and copy to a RAID 1 drive as we go.
We WRAP and copy the drive onto our SAN which is backed up overnight.
Next up is REDCINE and here is my first question...
Don't we get a low contrast/saturation image out? I guess the editors could work with it, but when the VFX guys start working they need something fairly close to the final image. So we want a sort of one light. I was thinking of just doing a primaries correction in Color, but I hear that takes away the timecode (at the moment).
I'm also wondering how important it is that the DP be involved in this. It seems to have a great impact on exposure control. Once the VFX guys start working on a TIIF sequences from the .r3d files we are sort of set on that first grade. I'm under the impression that the REDCINE process is done once for the whole shoot rather than for each clip. If this is so then the DP can decide on the day then everything will be ready in the morning for post. If not, I guess the DP would have to come in the next day and take a look before we start on post.
