well i put myself in quite a bind. I REALLY need help with this one!!!!

I shot a film on red in 4k using 3k and 2k sometimes for slomo. In premiere I opened a 512 sequence then had to sync my audio so in the timeline synched all my shots on a single video channel in the timeline. lets call this the "syching sequence"

I then opened a second 512 sequence my "editing sequence" and put in and out points from sequence 1 the "synching sequecne" everytime i needed a shot and edited the whole short that way. That way i could bring video AND audio synched shots into the editing sequence. So basically my "editing sequence" was reading from my "synching sequence"

Once all was done I then opened a 4k sequence and copied and pasted the audio/video from my 512 "editing sequence" into that for final render, changed the source settings of the footage in the bin accordingly. The problem here is that now my 4k sequence is not reading files from the actual bin or actual footage so its only interpreting it as 512 footage from the "synching sequence"

Normally for music videos I edit in a 512 sequence, copy and paste into a 4k sequence then change the source settings and my 4k sequence reads the files as 4k footage for CC and export.

I'm on a VERY VERY tight deadline so will not have time to reedit this. how can I go about having my 512 sequence copied and pasted into a 4k sequence to be interpreted as 4k. I've tried EVERYTHING i could think of and REALLY dont know what to do. I obviously dont want to be stuck with 512 footage for CC/export and also wont have time to reedit the whole film as the client has me on a very tight deadline.

Please help as i'm at a loss here!!!! If theres anything confusing about my description of my workflow please let me know and i'll try to make clear what i did.

thanks in advance.

Are you on the current versions of Premiere and the RED plugin for Premiere? If so, you know the working resolution of the actual sequence isn't nearly as important as the preview settings you choose in your source and edit windows. Access these by right clicking anywhere in either window and choosing a setting that gives you good performance.

i THINK that the issue doesnt really apply to my preview setting. Basically i've finished my edit and want to export 4k footage from that 4k sequence. My footage in there however is being read as 512 (even if i change the source settings) so therefore i cant even REALLY color correct it. Playback is not my issue but rather the ability to have a final 4k sequence with 4k footage being read. I'm not even close to good with post production stuff so I may have completely misunderstood you. Please let me know if i'm off track.

thanks.

heres something that might help clarify. In my 512 editing sequence i inputed shots that werent from the 512 "synced sequnce" Just cutaway shots that didnt need audio so i just took them right fromt he bin and not from teh synced sequence. these shots are reading the right source setting so therefore ARE 4k in the 4k sequence.

Hello,

I edit this way all the time and have no problems. Here is one thing you can try, once you are done editing your 512 sequence, create a new 4k sequence in your project. then copy all your edited material from your 512 sequence and paste them into your 4k sequence....now select all your footage and make sure it's set to "fit to frame". Also in your project preview window you can right click and set your preview resolution and of course you can set all your RED specefic settings in the source property option by right clicking on one of the R3D files in your project window. Hope that helps!

Hey Maz, thanks for the response. If i select the 512 sequence footage which is in a 4k sequence and make it "fit frame" aren't i just simply blowing up 512 resolution to 4k and not actually USING 4k footage? Remember i'm trying to do an online here. Thus far nothing has worked.

And Charles quite frankly I dont think this is the way i should be doing it in Premiere either lol.

If you want, you can you email me a copy of your project file. I will replace footage with my own R3D file (this way I can better understand what is going on and possibly help you out)
