Hi Everyone,
In preparation of my Scarlet-W arrival, i would like to purchase the necessary external had drive array that will maintain a smooth workflow in post. My current computer configuration is a 2013 Mac Pro 2.7Ghz 12-Core with 64Gb of RAM. As the computer should be plenty fast, my only bottleneck is the speed of working off of an external drive. For the most part i will be filming between 4 and 5k resolutions, is there a certain read/write speed that should allow for relatively smooth playback? Currently i am looking into the G-Technology G-Speed: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ..._0g04566_g_speed_studio_xl_18tb.html/mode/edu. Would something like this be suitable? or complete overkill? If those speeds are not necessary to be that high, what are some lower cost alternatives?
Thanks,
Mike
