I need wide to telephoto immediately for many doc style/run n gun shoots. I'd imagine for many people it's the same. Especially if you're shooting verite and the subject(s) aren't there to wait for lens changes. For commercial/narrative the sigmas are great.

EDIT: the 24-70 Mk II. Don't get the first one, it's soft.

With patience and luck you can find samples of the MKI which are much sharper than the average MKIs.

Also the first one has a nicer bokeh and general "feel"....

might be just mine, it was so soft compared to others glass at the same focal range
